<p>The characteristics below describe the mindset of a powerful learner taken from research in the learning sciences. This year we have used these characteristics to describe what excellence looks like in Year 6.</p><p>23 MARSHMALLOW CHALLENGE </p><p>SELF – REFLECTION TERM 3 WEEK 1</p><p>WHAT EXCELLENCE LOOKS LIKE IN YEAR 6 CONSISTENTLY USUALL SOMETIMES RARELY Y PERSISTENCE-I stay determined, and positive in the face of difficulty ADVENTUROUS-I was willing to have a go and take a risk when faced with a new challenge FOCUSSED-I concentrated, ignored distractions and stayed on task IMAGINATIVE-I easily came up with new and creative ideas CAPITALISING-I made good use of resources and materials to support my learning and complete the task. METHODICAL-I was well organised and I thought through things carefully OPEN-MINDED-I asked for, accepted and made good use of feedback and advice INDEPENDENT-I explained my ideas clearly and confidently and I took the lead in the group when required EMPATHIC-I showed a good understanding of others, and offered helpful feedback and suggestions</p>
