<p> WESTERN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SCIENCE FAIR Rules and Regulations</p><p>General Information: 1. The purpose of the Fair is to recognize and commend youthful scientific talent and interest in scientific investigation. 2. Awards will be given as follows: Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each grade level will be awarded. 1st = Magic School Bus lab sets, 2nd = Test Tube Adventures experiment kits and 3rd = Grow-A-Frog kit sets. ALL entrants will receive a participation certificate. 3. Models or collections are not acceptable. Students should follow the scientific method, develop a testable question, and perform an experiment. 4. All students are required to have some type of written data, report, or information that supports their experiment. It is not required that this information be typed. 5. The participation of students in the Fair is meant to be a very positive experience. All participants should follow the guidelines and use the judging rubric to avoid any problems.</p><p>Entry/Exhibit Rules: 1. Students in grade 2-5 are eligible to participate. 2. All projects should follow the scientific method and use explanatory labels on their exhibits to demonstrate this as well as graphs, charts, and tables. 3. All exhibits must be constructed by the students. Parents, teachers, or any technically trained professional may give advice and guidance only. 4. All projects should include a display which is self supporting. This display should convey the basic understanding of the project's objectives. 5. All equipment and other necessary materials must be furnished by the student. If electricity is needed, it should be indicated on the entry form. Entrants may need to furnish extension cords if necessary. 6. The project should reflect your child's grade level appropriately. 7. The project should have your child's full name, homeroom teacher, and grade level on the BACK of the display board. Please print this on the back, bottom- right corner of display board. Use an ink pen, no markers please.
