<p> Math General Overview: School-Based Inservice 75 Points per Year</p><p>7/12 2-009-054 General Objective</p><p>The purpose of this component is to provide the opportunity for schools to hold a variety of planned school improvement inservice activities for their faculties/staff throughout the course of the year. Upon successful completion of the component, participants will be able to demonstrate increased knowledge of/or skills in topics covered.</p><p>Specific Objectives</p><p>Upon completion of this component, participants will demonstrate increased competency in one or more of the following by being able to: </p><p>1. Identify areas of weakness on State Student Assessment Tests and determine effective methods for strengthening those areas. 2. Plan an appropriate program of skills. Specify activities appropriate to a given age/developmental level. Plan and implement curriculum improvements. 3. Articulate programs, materials, methods, and/or activities between grade levels. 4. Demonstrate knowledge of current laws, regulations, and/or school board policies pertaining to this area of instruction. 5. Specify the latest trends in instructional programming for math. 6. Demonstrate skills in organizing, conducting, and evaluating math. 7. Discuss management of math education materials, equipment, and resources. 8. Explore activities to integrate and correlate math with other subjects. 9. Discuss innovative programs and instructional methods/techniques for math education. 10. Demonstrate the ability to adapt, design, and implement a math curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student. 11. Relate ideas shared by other professional colleagues and lecturers with individuals who were not able to attend.</p><p>Description of Activities</p><p>Under the direction of a school based administrator, participants may earn inservice credits for a wide variety of mini-workshop sessions, each with the ability to stand alone, to be held as an integral part of faculty meetings or as a series of mini-workshops.</p><p>Evaluation of Participants</p><p>Evaluation of the specific objectives will be determined by the activity leader or designee through analysis of student performance data affected by training activities, portfolios maintained by the training participant, documented observation by administrators, rubrics developed for special area curriculum, teacher-provided test results/grade books, or curriculum alignment data. </p><p>Evaluation of Activity</p><p>An online evaluation for this activity is not required. The facilitator may assign an evaluation survey through the Santa Rosa Professional Growth System if there is a need.</p>
