Upper Merion Area School District Technology Student Association Level 1- UMAMS Advisor - Mr. Cullen 610-205-8922 [email protected] 450 Keebler Rd King of Prussia, PA 19406

WHAT IS TSA? Our Mission The Technology Student Association fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology, innovation, design, and engineering. Members apply and integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts through co-curricular activities, competitive events and related programs.

HISTORY The Technology Student Association (TSA), formerly AIASA, is the oldest student organization dedicated exclusively to students enrolled in technology education classes grades K-12. It has a rich history that spans three decades. Three distinct periods may be found in TSA's history. During the period from 1958 to 1978, the American Industrial Arts Student Association (AIASA) was a sponsored activity of the American Industrial Arts Association (AIAA). In 1978, the nonprofit corporation, AIASA, Inc., was formed to oversee AIASA as a separate organization. During the decade that followed, the organization grew in size, strength, structure, and impact on students and secondary school programs. The summer of 1988 closed this third decade as AIASA reached another milestone, a change in the organization's name: the Technology Student Association (TSA).

UMASD Program The Upper Merion Middle School TSA School Chapter was started in October of 2009. Mr. Cullen was hired as the new Tech Ed teacher at UMAMS and has over 20 years of experience working with the TSA program. Students will have an opportunity to represent our school and community at local and regional conferences. Over 40 competitive events are open to MS students. Open labs will be run before, after, and during school to help develop the program. The TSA program is open to all students in the MS.

2014-15 PA-TSA DUES and COST Association Dues – $15 – check made payable to UMAMS PA-TSA Region 9 Leadership Conference - $15 – registration fee – includes lunch – Saturday Trip PA-TSA State Leadership Conference - 4 day trip – Seven Springs, PA– approx. $650.00 – fees paid after qualifying to attend conference Lab Materials - $10-$100 depending on events selected – fees paid as needed for supplies and materials in the lab

Open Lab Schedule –Check schedule in TSA showcase each week Wednesdays - after school - 3:00 - 5:30 pm - B-211 - except on third Wednesday – required faculty meeting Check schedule on website and my big campus

Competitive Events Each student is required to prepare for 3-6 competitive events at the regional conference.
