<p> Whatcom and Skagit Mathematics Partnership Workshop July 19 — July 23, 2004 8:30 A.M. — 3:30 P.M.</p><p>Who: Mathematics teachers (6-14) from Bellingham, Blaine, Burlington-Edison, Ferndale, Lummi, Lynden, Meridian, Mount Baker, Mount Vernon, Nooksack Valley, Sedro-Woolley, Skagit Valley College, Whatcom Community College, and Bellingham Technical College.</p><p>What: A workshop about (see full schedule on next page): Working Towards Cross-Grade Articulation in Mathematics (6-14) Exploring Algebraic Ideas: A Look into Pandora’s Box (9-14) Connecting Mathematics Concepts; depth and Breadth (6-8) Exploring Precalculus Ideas in Interesting Ways (9-14) Using Graphing Calculators to Explore Interesting Mathematics Ideas (6-8) Motivating the Unmotivated Student (6-14) New Ways to Look at Teaching Fractions (6-8) Making Sense of Linear Functions (9-14) Interesting Geometry Explorations (6-14) Some new mathematics problems to explore (6-14) Skateboards, Clocks, Trains, Bicycles, Bernoulli, Galileo, Pascal, and More…(6-14) Using GPS systems as Part of Mathematics (6-14) Building an Art/Mathematics Project (6-14) plus more …</p><p>Where: Fairhaven Middle School</p><p>When: July 18 – July 23, 2005, Daily 8:30 A.M. — 3:30 P.M. As we expect space to be limited, only those who can commit to full workshop should apply.</p><p>Materials: “Tons” of handouts and appropriate resource texts daily for each participant.</p><p>Lunch: Each participant needs to bring their own brown bag lunch.</p><p>Optional Credit: Clock hours or 2 WWU Mathematics Credits (400-level) for the workshop.</p><p>Note: A $50 registration fee (i.e. a personal check made out to WWU Math Department) is required to confirm each person’s registration. This same check will be returned to those teachers who subsequently attend the workshop.</p><p>Register with your school representative by June 5, 2005…be sure to include deposit!</p><p>Again, space is limited and only those able to commit to the full workshop should apply.
