Salary: Daily rate: £120</p><p>Job Summary:</p><p>To provide a complementary therapy service to patients, their families, carers and significant others. The service supports those who have multi-complex and sensitive issues, those who are bereaved and those who are terminally ill and dying.</p><p>The post holder will provide a range of Complementary Therapies (aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and other therapies as appropriate) to patients on a booking system, working to make best use of resources and delivering treatment and care in an environment that is conducive to healing and recovery. </p><p>The post holder will be expected to always act and practice within the framework of the Complementary Therapies Association and its supplementary guidance and will work as a self-employed therapist under a service level agreement with an annual review. </p><p>Reporting The complementary therapist will report to the Head of Adult and Children’s Services. </p><p>Job Location The position will be primarily based initially for one day a week at Vine House, Ribbleton and a second day at Croston House, Garstang.</p><p>Contractual Conditions The position is for two days a week. Operating on a 9.30 – 4.30 day with an hour’s lunch break.</p><p>Job Requirements It will be necessary for the postholder to be able to travel between the Charity’s Garstang and Ribbleton bases to be able to deliver therapy services from 9.30 and preference will therefore be given to persons with a current full driving licence and access to a car.</p><p>Qualifications You will hold at least a diploma level qualification in complementary therapy and be registered with a recognised therapy professional body, holding your own indemnity insurance and demonstrating evidence of continuous professional development and supervision support. Job Functions:</p><p>The post holder will be expected to undertake the following duties and roles:</p><p>Patient Care:</p><p> Plan, deliver and evaluate the complementary therapies programme for patients, working within the relevant professional governing bodies and regulatory authorities. Practice within those frameworks of the policies and procedures, ensuring that the planning and delivery of care is patient centred and that work is undertaken with patients in a spirit of openness and collaboration. Ensure that all plans of therapy, subsequent changes and evaluations are recorded, ensuring continuity of approach and promoting holistic care. Ensure that all progress notes, and other elements of the clients’ records are completed in a coherent and comprehensive manner. Attend, where necessary, case conferences and review meetings. As the specialist provide advice and guidance to the charity on the suitability and appropriateness of each type of complementary therapy.</p><p>Organisational: </p><p> Participate in the Health and Safety monitoring systems as required. Prioritise and manage complementary therapy referrals. Participate in the gathering and collation of relevant data. Ensure a robust referral, assessment, review and discharge process is in place in order to effectively manage the service and patient outcomes including patient assessments. Co-ordinate and manage the appropriate introduction and implementation of new therapies. Support volunteer / student placement complementary therapists, working in the charity. Maintain supplies and storage of complementary therapy resources e.g. oils. Keep concise, accurate records of work with patients and carers in line with Data Protection requirements and the Charity’s record keeping policies and procedures. Participate in the risk management process in order to help safeguard the welfare of patients, visitors and staff and to take responsibility for reporting risks and managing risks as appropriate. </p><p>Personal Development: </p><p> Undertake to further skills, knowledge and awareness to enhance patient care. Where possible support the learning and development of others. Participate in the process of clinical supervision. Participate in the internal training programme for staff as required. Follow good infection control practice at all times and that they are familiar with infection control policies, procedures, and guidance relevant to their area of work</p><p>Team Be able to build relationships and work within a multi-professional team liaising with other members when appropriate.
