<p> British Canoeing Role profile</p><p>Role Details:</p><p>Role Title: Performance Coach Developer Reports to: Head of Performance Coaching</p><p>Department: Performance Responsible for: </p><p>Location: National Water Sports Centre Working pattern: To be successful in the role, the post holder will (NWSC), Nottingham need to be willing to work unsociable hours, including weekends</p><p>Role purpose</p><p>This is a key role to enable us to build on the progress made in our Olympic Pathways during the last 4 years and continue to build a sustainable infrastructure to support long term international success in Canoe/Kayak maximising the opportunities for our young paddlers.</p><p>Reporting to the Head of Performance Coaching the post holder will be responsible for implementing the coach education and the development elements highlighted within the England Talent Strategy. They will work closely with Coaching, Talent Pathway Managers and their Home Nation Colleagues to ensure there is alignment and partnership working throughout the UK Talent system</p><p>This role is funded by the Sport England Talent funding stream.</p><p>Key responsibilities</p><p> Working with the Head of Performance Coaching to identify skill gaps, training needs and talent management requirements that support the delivery of the England Strategy  Delivery of face to face workshops, training sessions and facilitation of events that deliver targeted learning interventions  Support Personal Development plans for designated coaches using coaching and mentoring techniques  Innovate, resource and deliver world class education around the ‘What it takes to Win’ (WITTW) Model and on the development of a library of bitesize generic training resources that can be used both internally and externally.  Provide tailored support to Partnership Clubs, supporting them through a self-assessment process to create a coaching talent development plan and then provision of mentoring and assistance in achieving their goals.  Develop the content for a British Canoeing Transitioning Coach Accelerated Learning Course mentoring former World Class Programme and England Talent Pathway athletes and other like-minded individuals committed to developing their performance coaching expertise</p><p>1. Programme Management</p><p>1.1 In consultation with the Head of Performance Coaching implement a coach education programme to align all coaches to the relevant and recommended NGB Awards 1.2 Design and implement bespoke courses/mentoring to meet the needs of the Talent Coaches progressing towards their career goals, including areas such as physiology and psychology.. 1.3 Developing a programme of NGB Courses to assist in the development of the Club Coaches 1.4 Developing and implementing initiatives to minimise drop out from the sport and creating a long term sustainable infrastructure for coach development which is not dependant on public funding.</p><p>2. Innovation and Development</p><p>2.1 Identify, research and innovate coach development informed by the WITTW model 2.2 Working closely with the Head of Performance Coaching, continue to develop the Athlete Curriculum and Community of Practise Site 2.3 Develop new initiatives to enhance further learning opportunities. Webinars, Skype etc. 3. Miscellaneous:</p><p>3.1 Actively engage in continual professional development (CPD) to develop knowledge of talent development and general management/leadership competencies, and to keep abreast of relevant policies, procedures and best practise 3.2 Deliver at a variety of Conferences, Workshops as required by the Head of Performance Coaching</p><p>Decision-making</p><p> The role involves a high degree of autonomy and the post holders needs to be able to prioritise, manage their own time and be able to make decisions in relation to Coach Development</p><p>Developing solutions</p><p> Solves problems creatively by, identifying the problem, evaluating the alternatives and finding innovative solutions.</p><p>Management of Resources</p><p> Able to develop, research and resource knowledge tools and models to support coach education  Responsible for managing and reporting on the Talent Coach Development Programme Budget</p><p>Working relationships</p><p> Work closely with Home Nation Colleagues and the Canoe Sprint/Slalom Talent Pathway Managers to create an integrated and aligned Talent system throughout the UK where a common language can be created  Engage in regular review sessions, monitoring and implementing new strategies where required to meet the need of the Talent Coaches.  Support the Head of Performance Coaching, British Canoeing Performance Leadership Team (PLT) in the annual cycle of planning, implementation and review of the Talent Coaches and their impact on the programme.  Working with athletes, coaches, parents, clubs and the canoeing community.  Contribute to the overall leadership and delivery of the British Canoeing Talent Programme as a member of the Home Nation Talent Steering Group Develop and manage relationships with relevant external partners and stakeholders such as other Olympic/Paralympic Sports, Sport England, EIS Pathway Team  Attend Sport England and UK Sport Talent Forums as the Coach Development representatives and work with other NGB’s to benefit from best practise.  Work closely with identified clubs to develop their Talented Coaches helping them develop and retain the experience</p><p>Developing others</p><p> Talent programme coaches, club coaches, clubs and parents  Supporting colleagues and the development of the overall British Canoeing Performance Team  Liaise with Competition Committees to best support the development of Coaches</p><p>Knowledge and expertise</p><p> In-depth understanding and experience of the High performance environment including the technical, physical and mental aspects of the sport  In-depth understanding and experience of Olympic and Paralympic paddle-sport including the technical, physical and mental aspects of the sport  Extensive knowledge of Performance Coaching, skill acquisition, decision making. </p><p>2  Ability to deliver a selection of Psychometric Tests  Ability to coach and improve Coach performance in any class at all levels of the talent pathway  An understanding of the Long term Athlete Development principles and the key elements of an effective talent pathway.  Interpersonal skills to interact and influence at all levels</p><p>Additional information</p><p> The post-holder's duties must at all times be carried out in compliance with the British Canoeing’s Equal Opportunities Policy, Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policies and the British Canoeing Coaches Code of Conduct. There may be a requirement to complete a DSB Check  Ensure the health and safety of all staff, volunteers, personnel and resources within the post-holder's duties and personal responsibilities as per the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.</p>
