Doherty is a full-time tenured professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) in the School of Administrative Science in the Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies in Hackensack, New Jersey. He developed and currently teaches continuing education classes in the topics of cell phone forensics, PDA forensics, and electronic eavesdropping device detection. Dr. Doherty also developed courses under a National Guard grant, and he teaches those graduate courses in computer forensics and network security. He is a member of the New Jersey Regional Homeland Security Technology Committee and also teaches a Computer Security class in the Homeland Security Program. Dr. Doherty is also a member of the National Military Intelligence Association and ASIS International because these organizations provide a wealth of information on how to better serve the University’s large population of military and law enforcement students.</p><p>Many years ago, Dr. Doherty was trained as a radio operator for the Civil Air Patrol at the Northeast Regional Communication School and participated in some Search and Rescue Missions after completing Ground Search and Rescue School. He was a member of Boonton Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service for many years and helped with radio communications at many town events and practice nets. Recently, he wrote a book with some practitioners called Emergency Management and Telemedicine for Everyone. He is one of the professors at FDU who also teach an undergraduate class in Emergency Management Technology.</p><p>FDU has four course certificates in Emergency Management Administration (http://view.fdu/default.aspx?id=1537) in its Master of Administrative Science Program. The courses cover a wide variety of administrative competencies as well as technical skills such as Geographic Information Systems.</p><p>Dr. Doherty is attending the 12th Annual Emergency Management Higher Education Conference to network with academics and emergency management practitioners to further his knowledge in this burgeoning field.</p><p>March 6, 2009</p>
