Aims (200 words or fewer) </p><p>Please note: If you have received previous funding for an aspect of this project, you must provide a progress report and explain how your current proposal relates to the work previously funded.</p><p>As concisely as you can, state:  The aims of your project.  What are the specific questions you seek to answer? </p><p>Please keep in mind that most members of the Committee are not experts in your field. In this section and in the rest of the application, make every effort to write your proposal for an educated, but not an expert, audience.</p><p>Part 2. Background/Significance and Project Design/Methods (4-5 pages absolute maximum)</p><p>Please include in this section:</p><p> What is known and not known in this area of inquiry? (Please provide citations from the relevant literature.)  Is there a controversial idea you propose to address or missing information you propose to provide?  Describe the design of your project, and explain how the methods and design of your project will answer the questions you pose. In cases that involve work with a professor, it is important that you indicate the ways in which you will make an independent or creative contribution. </p><p>Part 3. Additional Approvals Required</p><p> If your work requires human subjects, do you have final approval from the IRB? *  If your work requires animal subjects, do you have final approval from IACUC? *</p><p>* If not, please explain what steps you will take to receive the required approval.</p><p>Part 4. Budget</p><p>Provide a detailed budget to the nearest whole dollar and justify your expenses. Most awards are for $500 or less. Requests above that amount require extensive justification.
