Who is the educator?</p><p>Seminar Programme:</p><p>This seminar will enable you to: </p><p> DEVELOP young people’s emotional resilience through creativity.  DISCOVER creative approaches to learning through diversity.  EXPLORE diversity in your school or youth group through the arts.</p><p>Tuesday 15th March 2016, 10am – 3.30pm Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal £20 per delegate (lunch included)</p><p>‘Prism Arts’ approach enables children to initiate ideas, take responsibility for the idea, and learn in an engaged and fully involved way.’ – Head Teacher, Distington Community School </p><p>Programme for the Day: </p><p>10.00am: Coffee and registration</p><p>10.30am: Opening and welcome: Catherine Coulthard (Director, Prism Arts)</p><p>10.35am: Animation and Performance showcase  Animation: Mayfield SEN Physical & Sensory Specialist School, Distington Community School, Holme St Cuthbert Primary School, Prism Arts, Haltwhistle Film Project  Performance piece: Developed in partnership with Prism Arts Studio Theatre and Brewery Youth Arts  Questions and Answers: Led by Ali McCaw (Lead Artist, Prism Arts) and Angela Jones (Head Teacher, Distington Community School)</p><p>11.15am: Coffee</p><p>11.45am: Workshops</p><p>Delegates have the opportunity to select one of 4 workshops (max. 15 per workshop). All workshops will be co-delivered by artists, teaching staff, mainstream primary school children and learning disabled participants. You will be able to choose one of the following:</p><p>Workshop 1: Film and Animation Haltwhistle Film Project and Holme St Cuthbert Primary School Workshop 2: Performance Vicki Maxfield (Prism Arts) and Brewery Youth Arts. </p><p>Workshop 3: Drawing and Visual Art Celia Burbush (Prism Arts) and John Lake (Mayfield SEN School Student)</p><p>Workshop 4: Creative process and impact on learning Ali McCaw (Lead Artist, Prism Arts), Angela Jones (Head Teacher, Distington Community School) and Lynn Corini (Head Teacher, Holme St Cuthbert)</p><p>12.45pm: Lunch</p><p>1.45pm: Discussion Groups</p><p>Delegates break out into 3 focus groups to explore key questions raised in the morning. Delegates nominate a scribe and speaker. Choose from the following:</p><p>Discussion 1: Creative process versus SATS and how to invest? Angela Jones (Head Teacher, Distington Community School), Catherine Coulthard (Director, Prism Arts) Lynn Corini (Head Teacher, Holme St Cuthbert School) and Ali McCaw (Lead Artist, Prism Arts)</p><p>Discussion 2: Creativity and digital engagement Haltwhistle Film Project, Kate Sargent (Year 6 Teacher, Holme St Cuthbert School)</p><p>Discussion 3: Creative opportunities outside school Vicki Maxfield (Prism Arts) and Tricia Gordon (Brewery Youth Arts)</p><p>2.45pm: Short break</p><p>3pm: Share discussion feedback </p><p>3.30pm: End</p><p>How to book:</p><p>Places are just £20 per delegate (including lunch) and can be booked via the Brewery Arts Centre Box Office:</p><p>In person at the Brewery Arts Centre Box Office On the phone: 01539 725133 Online: www.breweryarts.co.uk/youth/category/who-is-the-learner-who-is-the- educator</p><p>Please note: there is a £1.50 fee per transaction for card payments made online or over the phone.
