SCB0032</p><p>The Governing Body are seeking to appoint two highly motivated classroom practitioners to join the hardworking and successful Foundation Phase at our friendly and happy school.</p><p>Ideally we are looking, in each case, for a colleague who:  is a suitably qualified teacher  has high expectations of every child in the class  is able to work alongside colleagues, sharing information and good practice  is capable of having a positive impact on the development of every child in the school  is willing and able to be committed to the wider life of the school.</p><p>Candidates should clearly indicate on their application forms particular curriculum strengths and any relevant extra qualifications or experience in these areas. CYNGOR SIR POWYS COUNTY COUNCIL</p><p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p><p>Position Title: Foundation Phase Class Teacher (Full time Temporary until, in the first instance, 31st December 2012)</p><p>Position Number: SCB0032</p><p>Directorate: Communication, Learning and Skills</p><p>Division/Section: Schools</p><p>Location/ Work Base: Caersws Primary School</p><p>Grade: Class teacher (MS or UPS, depending upon experience)</p><p>Accountable to: School Governors and the Headteacher</p><p>Accountable for: Class teaching responsibilities (see below)</p><p>Main Purpose of Post: o Foundation Phase full-time class teacher o Curriculum leader/co-ordinator in negotiated area(s). Our priority is to appoint an excellent class teacher. A willingness to help with extra-curricular clubs is desirable.</p><p>Principal Responsibilities:</p><p>1. School E thos o Uphold, and put into practice, the agreed vision and aims of the school; o Promote pupils’ well-being at all times; o Promote equal opportunities within a learning environment which is inclusive; o Ensure a high standard of physical and emotional care for all pupils; o Enhance pupils' moral, spiritual, social and cultural development in class and during school assemblies; o Promote good behaviour and mutual respect throughout the school; aim to instil self-discipline in all pupils; expect good behaviour and courtesy from all pupils; o Implement all whole-school policies and procedures, particularly those related to Child Protection; o Promote Welsh language development and pupils’ understanding of Wales, its heritage and culture; o Report on the welfare, social and personal needs of individual pupils and, where necessary, liaise with external agencies in consultation with the Headteacher.</p><p>2. Planning o Prepare long-term, medium-term and short-term curriculum plans, keeping abreast of the requirements of the Foundation Phase; o Produce weekly lesson plans to include all staff and evaluate pupil progress; o Identify the needs of pupils with Additional Learning Needs (SEN, MAT and EAL) within weekly lesson plans and differentiate tasks accordingly. Liaise regularly with the SENCO and take account of each pupil’s IEP. </p><p>3. Teaching and Classroom Organisation o Plan, prepare and deliver lessons which meet the needs of all pupils within the class; o Create a positive, orderly and stimulating classroom environment where pupils are challenged and expected to give of their best; o Have high expectations of all children and communicate this to them; o Familiarise pupils with classroom routines and responsibilities; o Mark work regularly and provide pupils with constructive feedback, orally and in writing, as appropriate; o Ensure that children's work is displayed to a high standard; o Make effective use of classroom resources and ensure that children use them carefully. Use school equipment carefully and store after use. Keep the school and classrooms tidy and organised; o Safeguard children's health and safety when they are in class, when they are on the school premises and during out-of-school activities; o Keep daily records of pupil attendance. </p><p>4. Assessment , Recording and Reporting o Use assessment for learning strategies to inform pupils of their ongoing progress and to help them set personal targets for improvement; o Maintain effective records of pupil attainment throughout the year and use to inform planning; o Assess and record pupils' progress and attainment at appropriate intervals throughout the school year and report individual attainment to the Headteacher; o Produce a full end of year report to parents.</p><p>5. Whole School Roles and Responsibilities o Contribute to whole school development planning and review; o Participate in staff/phase meetings which relate to curriculum development, professional development, administration, organisation and pastoral matters; o Lead curriculum areas within the school (as appropriate); o Lead class and phase assemblies/collective worship; o Support extra-curricular activities.</p><p>6. Staff Development o Take responsibility for continued professional development by attending INSET courses and meetings and participating in PLC projects; o Participate in performance management; o Review own practice in response to changes to pedagogy and developments in teaching, learning and assessment; o Oversee the work of teaching assistants assigned to the class.</p><p>7. Supervision and Cover o Carry out playground supervision and other supervision duties as arranged by the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher; o Comply with Health and Safety regulations (See below).</p><p>8. The Wider School Community o Develop and maintain good relationships with parents, governors and all members of the local and wider community; o Attend Parents’ Evenings; o Support school events arranged throughout the year; o Support, as far as possible, the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association.</p><p>9. Working Hours o Full-time classroom teachers shall be available for work 195 days a year, 190 of which will be teaching days; o Staff are expected to arrive at school in time to prepare resources, liaise with other colleagues and support staff, update themselves on the day’s events, also to see parents should the need arise.</p><p>Safeguarding This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is subject to ISA Registration and a CRB Disclosure Check.</p><p>CRB Requirements</p><p>The following CRB clause is included within the job description, in line with Powys County Council’s policy. </p><p>Clause a) This position has a requirement for an Would be suitable for a position where Enhanced CRB Disclosure and ISA work may be carried out closely with registration as it is classed as children or vulnerable adults on a frequent Regulated Activity under the Vetting or intense basis. and Barring Guidance, 2009. </p><p>Welsh Language Competency Level Information</p><p>The following Welsh Language Competency clause is included within the job description, in line with Powys County Council’s policy.
