A RESOLUTION Adjourning the Senate in Honor and Loving Memory of Thomas O'daniel

<p>UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 05/30/18 12 REG. SESS. 12 RS BR 112</p><p>A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Thomas O'Daniel. WHEREAS, Thomas O'Daniel was born to Ursula and James O'Daniel in 1918, in Lebanon, Kentucky. He grew up working on the family farm and caring for his siblings. When he was 20, he moved to Northern Kentucky, where he met his future wife, Elizabeth Edelmayer. The two wed on May 20, 1944. He bought the Florence Nursery in 1963, and through his hard work he expanded it into a family business composed of a garden store, nursery, and floral shop; and WHEREAS, Thomas O'Daniel was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Paul Church and an active member of his community who believed in the value of service to others. He often volunteered for his church, serving on the parish council and helping to raise funds to renovate the church building. He also served on the Florence City Council and was a board member for the Florence Deposit Bank. In recognition of his generous contributions to his community, he was honored as the Florence Rotary's Citizen of the Year in 2005; and WHEREAS, Thomas O'Daniel was preceded in death by Elizabeth, his beloved wife, to whom he was greatly devoted, and his son Tom. He is survived by his loving children, Kathy Bolte, Barb Brown, Shelly Lenhof, Paul O'Daniel, Rick O'Daniel, Jim O'Daniel, and John O'Daniel; his three siblings, Ruby Johnson, James O'Daniel, and</p><p>Frank O'Daniel; his 24 grandchildren; and his 19 great-grandchildren, who all remember him as a fine man, and a good father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and WHEREAS, Thomas O'Daniel departed this earthly life on July 4, 2011, at the age of 92, and an entire community joins his family and friends in mourning his loss; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:</p><p>Section 1. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Thomas O'Daniel.</p><p> Section 3.
