<p>Connecting and Communicating: Using graphic Organizers in Math Class</p><p>Creating a Concept Splash Using Powerpoint</p><p> Use a blank presentation.</p><p> Select the blank slide. </p><p> Adding Text (title, vocabulary, questions) o The easiest way to add text to your splash is by using WordArt (Insert – Picture – WordArt). WordArt can also be inserted using the tilted blue A on the Drawing Toolbar. </p><p>. WordArt comes in all sorts of styles and can be moved around easily on your splash. </p><p>. Word Art can also be stretched, squished, and rotated by clicking on the small white squares that surround your text. </p><p> o The other way to add text is to insert a text box (Insert – Text Box) into your splash. Your cursor will become a + sign. Click and drag the cursor to create your text box. Now you can type within this box. After you are through, you can move your text box wherever you would like on your splash. </p><p> Adding Pictures (diagrams, math problems, photographs) o Add pictures by drawing them yourself using the Drawing Toolbar (View – Toolbars – Drawing) . Check out the drawing tools and the AutoShapes.</p><p> o Add pictures using Clip Art (Insert – Picture – Clip Art).</p><p> o Add pictures by copying and pasting them from the Internet. . Try using a search engine (Google – Image) to look for pictures. Go to the MCAS search engine to find some good math problems or diagrams to add to your splash.
