A RESOLUTION Honoring the Madisonville North Hopkins High School Marching Maroons for Winning s1

<p>UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 05/30/18 13 REG. SESS. 13 RS BR 1593</p><p>A RESOLUTION honoring the Madisonville North Hopkins High School Marching Maroons for winning the 2012 KMEA Class AAAA Marching Band Championship. WHEREAS, on October 29, 2012, with a score of 88.15, the Madisonville North High School Marching Maroons defeated several other finalists to win the 2012 Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) Class AAAA Marching Band Championship, their eighth consecutive KMEA title; and WHEREAS, the Marching Maroons were led by legendary Band Director Rob Bryant, who was assisted by Randy Adams, Alan Emerson, and Color Guard Director Sarah Emerson, who was assisted by Katie Herrenbruck; and WHEREAS, during their performance, the Marching Maroons had 114 students on the field under the direction of drum major Lexie Gamblin; and WHEREAS, the Marching Maroons' win continues a remarkable and celebrated tradition. Along with the state title, the band is seven-time Grand Champion of the Murray State University Festival of Champions and Grand Champion of the 2004 and 2005 Kentucky Pageantry Arts Association Competition in Louisville. The year 2012 proved to be a remarkable season for the Marching Maroons, as they were Grand Champion of the Hopkins County Central competition, Reserve Grand Champion of the Murray State University Festival of Champions, Grand Champion of the Henderson</p><p>County competition, Grand Champion of the Christian County competition, and Grand Champion of the Music City Invitational; and WHEREAS, 2012 also marked the inclusion of the Marching Maroons in the Feature Showcase Ensemble at the New York Wind Band Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Only six bands are admitted to the festival each year, following a nomination from the World Projects Board of Directors. In years past, Feature Showcase Ensembles have been college or university wind ensembles or symphonic bands. SESS. 13 RS BR 1593</p><p> selected to perform as a Feature Showcase Ensemble; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this Honorable Body take time to recognize the efforts and accomplishments of this remarkable group of young men and women. They exemplify the best in teamwork and dedication, and they will forever be remembered in the halls of Madisonville North Hopkins High School and revered in the fields of future Kentucky high school marching band competitions; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:</p><p>Section 1. The Senate hereby honors and commends the Madisonville North Hopkins High School Marching Maroons, Band Director Rob Bryant, and the assistants and support staff, upon the program's triumph in the 2012 KMEA Class AAAA Marching Band Championship, and expresses best wishes to the team for continued success in future endeavors.</p><p> Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the Madisonville North Hopkins High School Marching Maroons.</p><p> Section 3.
