<p> Lisa Marie Mantz Associate Judge, Newton County Juvenile Court 1132 Usher Street Covington, Georgia 30014 (770) 784-2060</p><p>Judge Lisa Mantz has served at the associate judge in the Newton County Juvenile Court since 2002. She graduated from Dickson College in 1990 with a BA in history and received her law degree from Emory University School of Law in 1993. Her prior legal experience includes serving as the Special Assistant Attorney General for Newton County, Putnam County and Jasper County Departments of Family and Children and the Newton County Office of Child Support Enforcement and as a municipal prosecutor. She is active in the Council of Juvenile Court Judges, where she is currently serves as chairperson of the behavioral health, developmental disability and additive disease committee, vice-chair of the Delinquency Committee and Chairperson of the Delinquency Improvement Initiative and as member of the education/certification committee.</p><p>She is currently serving as a Core Team Member of Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice Policy Academy-Action Network Initiative, for improving Diversion Programs for Justice-Involved Youth with Behavioral Health Disorders, Chairperson of the Newton County Student Attendance Protocol Committee, and as an advisory board member for The Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant. She is a contractor with the Administrative Office of Courts, Supreme Court Committee on Justice for Children, focusing on compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act and is a Fellow, Lawyer’s Foundation of Georgia, Inc.</p><p>Judge has previously served as the Chairperson of the Kidsnet Newton County Policy Council, a member of the State Board of Education Truancy Task Force, the legal/policy chairperson for the Newton County MacArthur Foundation Technical Assistance Award, the State Infrastructure Grant and has been a past president of the local bar association. Judge Mantz has been a speaker and presenter at child welfare and continuing education conferences for both attorneys and the judiciary and community stakeholders, including the following: Child Support Enforcement Conference, Georgia Council of Juvenile Court Judges Conferences, Superior Court Guardian Ad Litem Training, Foster Care Parent Training, Department of Juvenile Justice Conferences, SAMSHA System of Care Conferences, Community Health Summits and the Georgia Dbhdd Training —Critical Issues Facing Special Needs And At-Risk Children And Youth: 8th Professional Seminar Series. Her areas of interests include the effect of nutrition and wellbeing on academic achievement, juvenile competency and restoration, juvenile delinquency and anti-social behavior. </p>
