<p> Unit 2 Test Study Guide</p><p>The majority of the test will be STAAR format test questions that test your knowledge of photosynthesis, composting, food chains, food webs, and energy pyramids. To perform well on this portion of the test you will need to remember things like:  Be able to write the formula for photosynthesis in words: o Six molecules of carbon dioxide plus six molecules of water, with sunlight and chlorophyll, makes (produces) 1 molecule of glucose plus six molecules of oxygen </p><p> Know that plants, algae and some bacteria undergo photosynthesis. They are called producers because they make their own food. </p><p> In food webs and food chains, eliminating one species has an affect on other species’ survival</p><p> The arrows in a food web and food chain represent the flow of energy from one organism to the next organism. The arrow flows from the organism being eaten to the one eating it. </p><p> Animals are called consumers because they rely on the energy from the organisms they eat. Herbivores (eat plants only), carnivores ( eat meat only), and omnivores (eat both plants and animals) are all consumers.</p><p> The sun provides radiant energy for all plants to undergo photosynthesis. The energy is then converted in chemical energy that is stored in the plants. </p><p> In photosynthesis, the reactants are water and carbon dioxide. The products are glucose and oxygen. </p><p> In an energy pyramid, the amount of biomass ( plants matter) at the bottom of the food chain or web has to be much greater to sustain the energy requirements for the whole ecosystem. </p><p> When energy is passing through a food web, some of the energy is lost as heat. Around 90% of energy is used by the organism for processes required for it to live.
