<p> Take a deck of cards Warm up activities</p><p>Activity 1</p><p> Hand out 1 card to each student.  Nominate a total eg 10  Students have to find a partner to total 10  Increase the total eg 27  Students have to find 2 more students to total 27  Increase level of difficulty to suit</p><p>Activity 2</p><p> One card per student  Stand in a circle  Nominate a total eg 10  Students pass cards to the right until they can make a combination to 10  They then sit down Activity 3</p><p> One card per student  Teacher writes a total on the board and places a starting card on the board  Students who can reach the total place a card or cards on the board and verbalizes the sum  Eg Nominated total is 15  Starting card is 8  Student adds a 7 to make 15</p><p>Activity 4</p><p> One card per student  Find a partner to where the total is an even/odd number  Note the rule  Repeat with two cards per student  Find a partner where the difference is odd/even</p><p>Activity 5</p><p> Two cards per student  Nominate a total eg 67  Students have to find a partner(s) to make the total Activity 6</p><p> Two cards per student  Nominate a difference eg 36  Students have to find a partner to make the difference</p><p>Activity 7</p><p> Two cards per student  Nominate a multiple eg 24.  All multiples of 4 stand up and explain the multiple  Eg 2 and 4 can make 24.  6 times 4 is 24</p><p>Activity 8</p><p> One card per student  Nominate a multiple eg 24  Students have to find a partner to make a multiplication fact eg 3 and 8, 4 and 6</p><p>Activity 9</p><p> Three cards per students  Nominate a multiple  Students who can make a multiple write it on the board and explain the answer eg 72  Cards 3 4 6 = 3 x 4 = 12 x 6 = 72 Activity 10</p><p> One card per student  Nominate a number eg 376  Nominate the number of cards to be used eg 4  Students have to make the target number using any method possible </p>
