<p>July 2014</p><p>Dear Parent/Carer,</p><p>Re: INSTRUMENTAL LESSONS AT MILLAIS</p><p>As you are aware, we offer a wide variety of instrumental lessons here at Millais. Many girls at Millais take instrumental lessons and benefit from learning a musical instrument by nurturing and developing new skills. As well as developing your daughter’s confidence, she will have the opportunity of performing with a number of different people at a number of different events whilst here at Millais. </p><p>The following agencies/teachers offer lessons to pupils here at Millais:</p><p>West Sussex Music (www.westsussexmusic.co.uk) </p><p>West Sussex Music offers a variety of instrumental lessons which take place in school. Instrument hire can be arranged through West Sussex Music at a cost of £20 per term/£5 per month. </p><p>Group lessons £78 per term / £19.50 per month Individual lessons (20 minutes) £120 per term / £30 per month Individual lessons (30 minutes) £170 per term / £42.50 per month</p><p>Please go onto their website and click on the ‘Making Music’ section to apply for lessons. </p><p>We also offer lessons on a private basis which take place in school. </p><p>Drums – Mr Mark Langner ([email protected]) (07854 947973) </p><p>Private drum lessons are now being offered at Millais on a one-to-one basis for 20 minutes during the school day. 10 private lessons will be provided per term for each individual student at a cost of £94 per term. It is not necessary to have a drum kit at home as practice time on school equipment can be arranged. Students should provide their own drumsticks and sheet music/text book as advised. 2</p><p>Piano – Ms Sue Chan ([email protected]) (07866 583540)</p><p>Sue is an experienced piano teacher who offers one-to-one tuition for 30 minutes during the school day on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Lessons are at £15 per lesson. Each term usually has between 11-13 lessons. If your child is interested in learning the piano from September, please contact Sue to register your interest via e-mail or telephone.</p><p>Piano – Mrs Elisabeth Bennett ([email protected]) (07584 656370)</p><p>Elisabeth is a private piano teacher at Millais school. She teaches beginners through to Grade 8 pupils and uses the ABRSM exam board. She charges £13 per half hour lesson. Each term usually has 12 lessons. For more information please contact Elisabeth either by e-mail or telephone. </p><p>Guitar – Mr Steve Obee ([email protected]) (07792 187548)</p><p>Steve offers electric and acoustic guitar lessons to all ages and abilities with all styles taught. Lessons last 30 minutes and cost £13 per lesson. The cost of these lessons can be shared with another student at a cost of £9 each. If your daughter is interested in learning the guitar, please email Steve to register your interest.</p><p>Ukulele – Mr Steve Gladman ([email protected]) (www.bsharpguitarschool.co.uk) (01903 600114)</p><p>Steve tutors a group ukulele orchestra for advanced ukulele players. This exciting workshop will get students playing famous songs and learning advanced techniques and playing solo ukulele melodies. Each workshop lasts 30 minutes during the school day and all ukuleles for pupils are provided. The workshop will run in three blocks of six lessons. Six lessons are £42 per pupil.
