
<p>Scratch Animation Lesson Outline Used in a Scratch Workshop or over several classes with students</p><p>1. Explain the concept of Scratch, parts of the screen. </p><p>2. Introduce the idea of blocks. </p><p>3. Teach how to save the project</p><p>4. Have students plan a simple, quick animation story, two characters talking QuickTime™ and a and a setting. decompressor are needed to see this picture. 5. Teach how to make a new costume for the cat sprite. </p><p>6. Copy and change the costume in some small way. </p><p>7. Make a script to animate the sprite, changing costumes. </p><p>8. Teach about cardinal directions and the sprite direction buttons, to have the sprite face the appropriate direction.</p><p>11. Teach how to make a stage, background scenery. </p><p>12. Add a second character, make a new sprite and add animation/movement script, copying over script from Sprite 1 and revising. </p><p>12. Teach how to add words using “say.” </p><p>13. Teach broadcast so that the two sprites interact. </p><p>14. Teach about adding sound, voice or music. </p><p>15. Explain how to use the web site.</p>
