<p> The First Annual AGGIE WALLACE MEMORIAL SOLO PIPING COMPETITION April 8 & 9, 2017 (3:00 pm to 5:00 pm) Judge: Jori Chisholm of Seattle Individual Piping Events</p><p>Where: McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Beach Park, Honolulu, Hawaiʻi</p><p>Fee, Entry Forms & General Rules: The events listed below will be held ON BOTH DAYS. Each day of events will be judged INDIVIDUALLY, with a set of results for each day. An overall winner for both days in each category will be announced on 9 April at the close of the competition. The judge’s notes on each piping performance will be available at the close of competition on each day. The $20 entry fee is per piper, and covers as many events as the piper wishes to enter. Entry forms are available at hawai- ianscottishassociation.org. Please submit your entry forms, and the names and settings, if necessary (unusual setting, or uncommon tune), for your chosen tunes to [email protected] by 1 APRIL, 2017. If required to submit more than one tune, the tune chosen by the judge will be posted by 10:00 am on April 8 in the Pipers’ Room. </p><p>On the Day: Please be in the Pipers’ Room by 2:30 pm and Check in with the Piping Steward. At- tire: Highland dress (Practice Chanter competitors excepted). </p><p>Sunday Workshop: Our judge, Jori Chisholm, will hold a free two (2) hour workshop for all com- petitors (included in the $20 entry fee) on Sunday, from 9:00 am – 1100 am. </p><p>Information: E-mail Kim Greeley at [email protected] for answers to any questions. </p><p>Practice Chanter</p><p>Qualifications: For those who are on the practice chanter only, and have not transitioned to play- ing a full tune on the bagpipes.</p><p>101 Scale: Play the full scale, starting from low G and returning to low G, with the G gracenote sounded on every note except high G and high A. Pause. Then play the full scale: starting from low G, going to high A, and returning to low G; sounding the the doublings shown in Attachment A, below.</p><p>102 Amazing Grace: played twice through.</p><p>103 Any March: four (4) parts of a March tune (two (2) parted tunes may be played twice through) Adult Piper</p><p>Qualifications: Open to any piper who began learning to play as an adult, age 35 and over.</p><p>Ad01 Any March: four (4) parts of a March tune (two (2) parted tunes may be played twice through)</p><p>Ad02 Slow Air: minimum of two (2) parts, repeats to be observed</p><p>Island Style</p><p>Qualifications: Open to any piper who is a current resident of the Hawaiian Islands.</p><p>IsleO1 Any March: minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>Isle02 Slow Air: minimum of two (2) parts, repeats to be observed</p><p>Isle03 Strathspey & Reel: each tune must have a minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>Isle04 Strathspey: each tune must have a minimum of four (4) parts (two (2) parted tunes may be played twice through); a piper may enter either event Isle03, or Isle 04, but not both</p><p>Isle05 Reel: each tune must have a minimum of four (4) parts (two (2) parted tunes may be played twice through); a piper may enter either event Isle03, or Isle 05, but not both</p><p>Isle06 Piobaireachd: ground and first variation; a piper may enter either event Isle06, or Isle 07, but not both</p><p>Isle07 Piobaireachd: a piper may enter either event Isle06, or Isle 07, but not both</p><p>Isle08 Jig: minimum of four (4) parts each</p><p>Isle09 6/8 March: minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>Grade 5</p><p>501 Any March: minimum of four (4) parts (two (2) parted tunes may be played twice through)</p><p>502 Slow Air: minimum of two (2) parts, repeats to be observed</p><p>503 Piobaireachd: ground (urlar) only</p><p>Grade 4</p><p>401 2/4 March: minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>402 Strathspey & Reel: two (2) parts each played twice, or four (4) parts each</p><p>403 6/8 March: minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>404 Piobaireachd: ground (urlar) and first variation Grade 3</p><p>301 2/4 March: minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>302 Strathspey & Reel: two (2) parts each played twice, or four (4) parts each</p><p>303 6/8 March: minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>304 Piobaireachd</p><p>305 Jig: minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>Grade 2</p><p>201 March, Strathspey & Reel: Submit 2 of each tune, each tune must have a minimum of four (4) parts </p><p>202 Piobaireachd: submit two (2) tunes</p><p>203 Hornpipe & Jig: minimum of four (4) parts each</p><p>204 6/8 March: minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>Grade 1</p><p>101 March, Strathspey & Reel: Submit 2 of each tune, each tune must have a minimum of four (4) parts</p><p>102 Piobaireachd: submit three (3) tunes</p><p>103 Hornpipe & Jig: submit two (2) of each tune</p><p>104 6/8 March: submit two (2) tunes, each tune must have a minimum of four (4) parts</p>
