<p>2008 BESB Student Achievement Awards</p><p>The Board of Education and Services for the Blind (BESB) has established four awards to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of blind, deaf/blind or visually impaired students in grades 6-12 throughout Connecticut. One award will be given for outstanding achievement in each area: academics, civic leadership, athletics and the Arts (visual art, creative writing, dance, theater, music, etc.).</p><p>Choose only one category per nomination. If you choose to nominate an individual for more than one award category, please submit a separate package for each award nomination.</p><p>Academics -- Recognizes outstanding success in one or more academic or vocational area (not necessarily highest GPA).</p><p>Civic Leadership -- Recognizes exemplary leadership/participation in a school activity or community setting.</p><p>Athletic Achievement -- Recognizes outstanding success as a participant in athletics either in a school or a community setting.</p><p>The Arts -- Recognizes creative contributions in the arts, such as visual arts, creative writing, dance, theater, music, etc.</p><p>Two letters of recommendation should accompany each nomination form.
