A RESOLUTION Adjourning the Senate in Honor and Loving Memory of Walter Patrick

<p>UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 05/08/18 12 REG. SESS. 12 RS BR 2023</p><p>A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Walter Patrick. WHEREAS, Walter Patrick was born in Burgin, Kentucky, on May 20, 1926, the son of the late William and Martha Shepherd Patrick, and passed these earthly bounds for his Heavenly Home on February 22, 2012; and WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick graduated from Harrodsburg High School before joining the United States Army, serving as First Lieutenant with the infantry in the South Pacific during World War II. He later obtained his law degree from the University of Kentucky and opened a law office in Lawrenceburg, where we worked until he retired in 2010; and WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick was heavily involved in the Anderson County community throughout his life, serving as attorney for the City of Lawrenceburg from 1953 to 1970; attorney for the Anderson County Board of Education; Circuit Judge for the 53rd Judicial District in the 1970s; Special Circuit Judge for the 50th Judicial District in the 1970s; and Special Circuit Judge for the 11th Judicial District in the late 1970s. He was a member of the Board of Governors for the Kentucky Bar Association from 1974 to 1977; and WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick served the community in many other roles. He was the founder and administrator of the Anderson County Scholarship Fund, a member of American Legion Post number 34, a former member and past president of the Rotary Club of Lawrenceburg, and a member of the First Christian Church of Lawrenceburg; and WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick took pride as a farmer, owner, and breeder of American Saddlebred horses. He made great efforts to support the Saddlebred Museum in Lexington and was a supporter of the Anderson Humane Society; and WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Shinnick Patrick; and WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; two children, Tandy Patrick and Bill (Debbie) Patrick; granddaughter, Alexandria Carol Patrick; and</p><p>Page 1 of 2 BR202300.100 - 2023 - 5434 Jacketed UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 05/08/18 12 REG. SESS. 12 RS BR 2023</p><p> nieces, Betty Patrick Coleman, Rhonda Patrick Toich, and Kim Patrick; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:</p><p>Section 1. The Senate expresses its deep sense of sorrow upon the passing of Walter Patrick, and extends to his family, friends, and community its sincere condolences.</p><p>Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Walter Patrick.</p><p> Section 3.
