<p> SIR WILLIAM PERKINS’S SCHOOL</p><p>ETHNIC MONITORING PRO FORMA</p><p>INTRODUCTION</p><p>The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 has placed a general duty on most public authorities and schools to promote race equality. Although this school is not directly bound by the Act the Governors have decided to comply with the general and specific duties of the Act relating to schools as a matter good practice. The aim of the Act, and the School’s Code of Practice, is to eliminate unlawful racial discrimination, promote equality of opportunity, and promote good relations between people of different racial groups. To do this it is necessary to monitor the ethnic origin of all who apply to study or work at the school, and their subsequent progress.
