Inform them that the release bearing is touching the fingers of the pressure plate, and that this will relieve some of the clamping force on the clutch disc, causing the clutch to slip. Let them know that hard shifting, improper clutch release, or transaxle gear damage would all be signs of too much clutch pedal free play. Instruct students that many late model vehicles have self-adjusting cables. Let them know that the cable is adjusted when the clutch pedal is released as the clutch disc wears from normal use. Explain that these systems use a constant- running release bearing, and it is always in contact with the pressure plate. In this case, let them know that the clutch pedal will not have any clutch pedal free play. Teach students that worn bushings, pivots, and brackets are the cause of poor clutch engagement and disengagement and should be inspected during clutch inspection. Also, springs should also be inspected for wear and replaced as needed.

Applications/Practice 1 Refer to content

Evaluation and feedback Prior to Testing or Lab Work Objective 1. / Formative assessment / Instructor will observe students as they practice the procedure to assure correct procedure and safety practices are being followed. A checklist will be utilized to chart 1 student progress on the task. Questioning techniques will be utilized as necessary to demonstrate student comprehension / Adaptations and/or accommodations for special needs students will be added if required.

STUDENT ASSESSMENT: (Assess student progress with performance criteria.) Objective 1 / Summative assessment / written test questions on stated objective / adaptation and / or 1 accommodations for special needs students will be added if required

IMPACT--Reflection/Analysis of Teaching and Learning: (How did students’ progress in relation to the state objectives?
