<p> BURLINGTON MIXED DART LEAGUE Dart Etiquette The Burlington Mixed Dart League is a great league to be a part of. While we stress that this league is a fun league, there are proper dart etiquette rules that each Captain, Co-Captain, Players, Scorekeepers and spectators should follow. </p><p> It is proper etiquette to shake your opponents hand before and after your game.  Be considerate when your opponent is shooting – don’t make unnecessary noise or create distractions.  This is a fun league and we encourage fun. However, teammates and spectators should keep noise to a minimum while a game is being played – this is in consideration of both your teammate and their opponent. Yelling or being rude is poor sportsmanship.  Don’t comment on darts being thrown until all three darts are in the board. Also keep in mind not to yell at the marker during another players throw.  Each team must supply a marker for each other’s boards  Players need to be patient as a new player learns how to chalk. Let’s encourage not discourage!  Scorekeepers should face the board and remain still while a player is throwing.  All darts are to be checked by the scorekeeper and pulled by the player.  The scorekeeper or the player shall not touch the darts before a decision is agreed upon by both scorekeeper and player. If the player pulls his darts out of the board before a decision has been made by both scorekeeper and player, the final decision will be made by the scorekeeper.  The scorekeeper may advise the player what number has been hit and if it is a single, double or triple, but not what has been scored or what is remaining. And ONLY when asked by the player.  When a score has been marked on the board by the scorekeeper, it shall not be changed after a further SIX (6) darts have been thrown.  Be considerate. Frequent mid-game trips to the bar, or excessive smoke breaks slow down the game and frustrates everyone. Players should be at the line and ready to play as soon as a board is free during regular season, playoffs and all tournament games.  It’s never acceptable to make disparaging comments about your opponents darts…it show’s poor sportsmanship.  At all times, show respect for your teammates, partners, opponents and your venue.  Should there be a complaint regarding the night, a certain game or individual, try to work it out through both captains first. If no resolution can be made, put the complaint in writing and email it to the entire committee. No other discussion should be made with other teams that are not directly involved. Please allow the committee to properly address any issues.  If a complaint is made about bad behaviour by an individual, this individual will be warned. After three warnings, the committee will make a decision if this player should be expelled from the league. Remember these simple rules of etiquette and you’ll be respected and welcomed as a partner and an opponent. When you give respect, you get respect. </p>
