<p> BENICIA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT Classified Management Job Description</p><p>NUTRITION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROJECT COORDINATOR</p><p>DEFINITION:</p><p>Under the professional direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services, plans, organizes, coordinates, supervises and is responsible for providing for the development and implementation of a nutrition and physical activity program for the district. </p><p>RELATIONSHIP TO STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT:</p><p>Improve the health status and school performance of students through specific programs focused on healthy nutrition and physical activity. </p><p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: To support students’ health and academic success by developing district policies that consistently promotes health, nutrition and physical activity. Establish a Board advisory committee on nutrition and physical activity, initially involving bimonthly meetings to review district, state and national policy and standards, re: health, nutrition and physical education. As well as review present programs currently in existence within this area Review and revise district policies regarding: comprehensive health, nutrition and physical education health promotion for staff, family and community involvement nutrition/food services commercialism in school Increase family, community and staff awareness of importance of good nutrition/physical fitness: working with curriculum committee, link food nutrition and physical education to current curriculum standards establish district wide website focusing on nutrition/physical activity and the NAPA program present school site/community programs on health and nutrition hold community/school site events promoting healthy nutrition/physical fitness Establish an ongoing sustainable strategy for continuing district wide programs and policies related to nutrition/physical activity: policy presentation to school board for consideration and or adoption encourage board support of the continued existence of the committee as a school health coordinating council or advisory committee on nutrition/physical activity seek additional funding sources to sustain project managers position beyond 6/03 Coordinates the operational aspects of the program. Prepares a variety of professionally written documents in a timely manner. Plans, develops, and conducts public and community relations programs pertaining to program functions and activities. 1 Performs other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Assistant Superintendent, Instructional Services may assign or delegate.</p><p>SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:</p><p>EXERCISED: Assigned classified staff</p><p>RECEIVED: Assistant Superintendent, Instructional Services</p><p>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:</p><p> Education: A Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree or it’s equivalent with a preferred emphasis in health, physical education, dietary sciences or nutrition. A Master’s Degree is preferred. Experience working in the public education system desirable. Experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity is desired. Current California driver’s license.</p><p>WORK SCHEDULE AND SALARY The Nutrition and Physical Activity Project Coordinator is a temporary position and is placed on the Classified Management Salary Schedule, Class 30, on a pro rated basis according to his/her training and experience. </p><p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p><p>The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that a person holding this position must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
