Stewart Instructor Dr. George Rus Office Engineering Building, room ENG 277 Office hours TR, 3:00PM-4:30PM or by appointment Office Phone 719-255-3337 E-mail [email protected] Website www.uccs.edu/~grus</p><p> Course Overview</p><p>This course constitutes the third out of a three semester long sequence in Calculus. This course emphasizes three major topics: 3-dimensional analytic geometry and vectors, functions of several variables and, differentiation and integration in more than one variable. We will cover most of Chapters 10 through 13. </p><p> Deadlines and important dates</p><p>Aug 20th - First day of classes Sep 6th - Last day to add, change sections, change status Sep 14th - last day to drop ALL classes, withdraw from school for 80% refund Sep 28th - last day to drop ALL classes, withdraw from school for 60% refund Oct 26th - last day to withdraw without special permission from the dean Dec 11th - Final Exam, 10:50AM-1:20PM ENG 101</p><p> Grading Criteria</p><p>A student’s grade will be determined by:  weekly quizzes,  one in-class mini-exam,  three in-class exams, and  Comprehensive Final Exam. </p><p>The respective weights will be:</p><p>Quizzes 180 points Mini-Exam 70 points Each Exam 150 points Final Exam 300 points</p><p>Total 180 + 70 + 3 x 150 + 300 = 1000 points  Homework and Testing policies</p><p> Homework will be assigned daily, but will not be graded. The problems on the weekly quizzes will be selected from the homework problems assigned.  The weekly quizzes will test you on the homework problems assigned daily. Each quiz will last 20 minutes. The lowest quiz will be dropped.  Absolutely no late tests will be allowed. If you know in advance that you must miss an exam you are required to make arrangements with me several days prior to the exam and take it early in the Disability Services and Testing Center. Students must email or stop by to make an appointment to take those exams (Main Hall room 105).</p><p>Grades will be administered according to the following scale (listed below are lower percentage cutoff points):</p><p>A A- B+ B B- C+ C C- D+ D D- F 93 90 87 83 80 77 73 70 67 63 60 0</p><p>The FINAL EXAM will be on Tuesday, December 11th at 10:50AM </p><p>NOTE: No calculators are allowed on any of the examinations.</p><p> Additional Assistance</p><p>Students with disabilities who require special assistance should feel free to contact me for any help or accommodation they might need. Please contact me as soon as possible; the sooner I am alerted to any special requirements, the better able I will be to make any necessary arrangements.</p><p> Other Resources</p><p>The Math Learning Center, 1st floor ENGR bldg, is available to all math students free of charge and w/o reservation. This is an excellent opportunity to seek alternative explanations of concepts, get expert help with homework, or just meet with your fellow students for a group study session. There are also rooms available free for reservation in the library—good place for a group to meet. They have chalk/whiteboards but you may want too bring your own chalk and markers.</p><p>The hours for the center are: M Tu We Th - 8am-7pm, F - 8am-4:30pm, Su -11am-3pm</p><p> Note on Academic Honesty</p><p>I expect you to do your own work on all problem sets and examinations. Discussing homework problems with others is welcomed and encouraged.</p><p>I reserve the right to change to contents of the syllabus, with notification.</p>
