<p>Missoula Aging Services (MAS) is committed to offering meaningful volunteer opportunities to the community. If you would like to be considered for a volunteer position, please complete a volunteer application and contact our Volunteer Coordinator. We will set an appointment to meet, and review the opportunities that interest you. Volunteer Opportunities for All Ages</p><p>Administration / In-house Office Support</p><p>Mailing Assistants – Volunteers assist with various clerical tasks associated with preparation for mailing newsletters and other publications, preparing informational packets, folders or other assembly line projects. MAS Office Assistants support several of our programs.</p><p>Special Projects Assistant – Volunteers will work as a group to complete various special projects, primarily clerical, to support the work of MAS staff and programs. Volunteers can choose to participate in regularly scheduled monthly Special Projects days depending on their availability. </p><p>Front Desk Receptionist – Volunteers greet guests of MAS and help manage our front office during office hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday. Half-day shifts and flexible daily schedules available.</p><p>Development Assistant – Volunteers work directly with our Development Officer to raise awareness about Missoula Aging Services and participate in outreach events. </p><p>Specialized Volunteers – Throughout the year there are times we seek volunteers to help in a variety of areas. If you have a special skill or talent you are interested in sharing, please inquire. Oftentimes we are able to create a volunteer initiative based on a person’s special skills.</p><p>Resource Center</p><p>Friendly Visitors – Volunteers visit residents of local residential living facilities. Volunteers must attend training classes before start of service with this program. Minimum 1 year commitment. </p><p>Resource Librarian – Volunteers oversee the library by maintaining a current list of titles, ensuring that books and CDs are checked out correctly and returned, and maintain the library inventory and the orderliness of the books and CDs on the shelves.</p><p>Resource Center Assistant – Volunteers keep Resource Center and Resource Closet materials current and available for clients and may research information to be displayed. Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Assistant – Volunteers assist older adults and people with disabilities to save money on their Medicare expenses and have a positive impact on their lives by helping them make informed decisions. This position is available from October-December annually. </p><p>Senior Medicare Patrol</p><p>Montana SMP – Volunteers are trained to help others sort medical bills and understand Medicare fraud, waste and abuse. Those interested may make presentations to local organizations. Volunteers must attend training before start of service with this program. </p><p>Nutrition Program</p><p>Farmer’s Market Coupon Assistants – This is a seasonal position. Volunteers perform tasks that support the agency’s Senior Farmer’s Market Coupon Program at the Saturday Markets May through October.</p><p>Meals On Wheels Scheduling Assistant – Volunteers work with our Nutrition Specialist to help schedule Meals On Wheels Route Drivers and to communicate important messages to the Meals On Wheels team. Volunteers work in the office a minimum of 5 hours at least two times per week during our normal business hours, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.</p><p>Meals On Wheels Office Assistant - Volunteers enter data to the Montana Aging Service Tracking (MAST) Program and an Access database, and regularly update client address list for mailings. Training and support on data entry is provided. </p><p>Meals On Wheels Route Drivers - Volunteers provide hot, nutritious meals to homebound and/or elderly residents in Missoula County. Deliveries take place Monday through Friday, from approximately 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mileage reimbursement is available. Flexible schedules are also available. </p><p>Meals On Wheels Dispatch Assistant - Volunteers provide assistance to drivers and staff at meal dispatch location while drivers are out on routes, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. </p><p>Meals On Wheels Reassessment Volunteer - Volunteers phone and interview Meals On Wheels clients due for reassessment.</p><p>Congregate Meal Assistant – Volunteers post fliers, confirm attendance, help set up/take down the party, collect forms, greet, and socialize while dining with guests. You’ll enjoy: </p><p> A one-on-one consultation, matching your time, talent, skills and interests with noteworthy community organizations that interest you.  An opportunity to choose from focused volunteering to a broad range of short-term opportunities.  The option of helping Missoula’s youth, elders or people with disabilities.  Putting your life experiences, talents and skills to work or learning new ones.  Making a difference, remaining active and vital, meeting new people while meeting critical community needs.  Regular updates on the most current volunteer opportunities in Missoula County. </p><p>RSVP - A volunteer program offering hundreds of volunteer opportunities to choose from that fit your interests and scheduling needs. With more than 100 non-profit partners, RSVP volunteers pitch in to help in areas such as hunger, housing/shelter, disaster services, youth services, education, health care, senior independence, environment, recreation and more.</p><p>Stipend Programs - For volunteers aged 55 and over who meet income eligibility guidelines and who receive an hourly stipend.</p><p>Foster Grandparents provide meaningful and supportive one-to-one care, attention and academic guidance to at-risk children in local schools and nonprofit daycare centers.</p><p>Senior Companions offer one-on-one companionship and assistance to at-risk seniors and adults with disabilities helping them remain safe and independent in their homes.</p><p>For more information on any of the Senior Corps opportunities listed, contact Helen Pohlman at 728-7682 or</p><p> e-mail: [email protected].</p>
