<p> CEDAR CREEK HIGH SCHOOL DIGITAL & INTERACTIVE MEDIA 2015-2016 Instructor: Nicolette Sciore Room: A110 Email: [email protected] Phone: (512) 772-7300 ext. 23145</p><p>Course Description Through the study of digital and interactive media and its application in information technology, students will analyze and assess current and emerging technologies, while designing and creating multimedia projects that address customer needs and resolve a problem. Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace environment. The knowledge and skills acquired and practiced will enable students to successfully perform and interact in a technology-driven society. Students enhance reading, writing, computing, communication, and reasoning skills and apply them to the information technology environment.</p><p>Course Goals The goal of this course is to provide knowledge on digital technology that deals with photography and graphics that may be displayed on screen or print. Students will gain hands on skills in software that is used in the industry for publishing and advertising. Students will be challenged to use their creativity to create original productions in order to collect effective practices and strategies that will prepare them for the digital & interactive media industry.</p><p>Classroom Rules  Demonstrate RESPECT for others  RESPONSIBILITY should be a priority  Maintain APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR at all times  BE HERE ON TIME!!!!!  NO FOOD OR DRINKS  Follow the STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT and DRESS CODE ALWAYS.  No one leaves the class without teacher’s permission and hall pass.  TEACHER DISMISSES THE CLASS, NOT THE BELL!!!!!!  NO CELL PHONES!!!  Wear your ID!  Sit in your ASSIGNED SEAT.  DO YOUR BEST!!! Any rule that is violated will result in consequences at the teacher’s discretion. Violating a rule or rules numerous times may constitute in a referral to administrator or removal from the class.</p><p>Attendance  State requires students to be physically present 90% of the time in the classroom to satisfy completion of course.  Students will lose credit if they have an excessive number of unexcused absences in a class.  You have 3 days to complete make up work if you are absent.</p><p>Equipment Procedure  TREAT SCHOOL PROPERTY APPROPRIATELY!!!!!  A log will be kept to keep track of all equipment that is checked out.  You are to sign out on the equipment that you check out.  You will be responsible for any equipment that you check out under your name. o In the case that you lose any equipment, you will be responsible to cover any and all costs of the equipment. o In the case that you give the equipment that you checked out to somebody else to turn it in for you will result in a zero daily grade. o In the case that this person loses your equipment, you will still be responsible to cover any and all costs of the equipment. o DO NOT LEND THE EQUIPMENT TO ANYBODY ELSE!!!!!!!!  You will be allowed to check out for school purposes only.</p><p>Out of School Video Projects Throughout the semester, students will be assigned various video projects that may require to be filmed outside of school premises and not during school hours. Students will not be supervised by the teacher on any projects that are filmed outside of school premises and not during school hours. It is the responsibility of the students and the parents to coordinate plans as well as safety issues while filming during non-school hours. Students will be granted safety instruction in the classroom for filming inside of school as well as outside. Please be safe and think before you act. THINK SAFETY FIRST AT ALL TIMES!!!!!</p><p>Evaluation and Grading Daily grades include class work, handouts, group work, current events summaries, and other assignments. As required by BISD Policy, grades for all nine weeks shall be determined according to the approved formula 60/40 (60% Tests;40% Daily). A) Sixty percent of the nine-week grade shall be average of the student’s grades from nine weeks test, major test, written assessment, major projects/activities. No less than five grades will be taken during the nine-week period. B) Forty percent shall be the average of daily assignments, homework, notebooks, or other activities determined by the teacher; and not be included in the 60 % major category. No less than 10 grades will be taken during the nine-week period. You have a minimum of 3 days to complete make up work. Make up work will constitute a grade not higher than a 70. If you are absent, you have 3 days to complete make up work for a regular grade. </p><p>Student Conduct Students should refer to the Bastrop Independent School District Student Code of Conduct for policies regarding acceptable student conduct in this classroom and Eagle Pass High School. In addition to the Student Code of Conduct the following rules apply:</p><p>1. Choose your attitude. Be positive about your work, your peers, your teachers, and Cedar Creek High School in general. Every individual will be shown respect at all times in my classroom. 2. Play by the rules. Have a great time but remember every playground has rules. If your playing interferes with a classmate’s learning or my teaching, you will be removed from my classroom. 3. Be present. Come to class on time and prepared to work. Focus on assigned tasks when asked to do so. If you become a distraction for other students or me, you will be removed from my classroom. 4. Help each other. Help out your peers that are near you if they ask you for help or if you see that they are confused about something and I am busy helping somebody else, offer to help. 5. Make someone’s day. Find some way to make the day of your peers—even if it is just by following these rules. I cannot force you to make someone’s day, but I will discipline you for ruining someone’s day.</p><p>Supplies  Notebook  Writing utensil  Flash drive ATTENTION ANYONE CAUGHT ENTERING A PROGRAM YOU HAVE NOT BEEN INSTRUCTED TO USE OR AN OBSCENE WEBSITE OR TAMPERING WITH ANYTHING ON THESE COMPUTERS OR ITS OPERATING SYSTEM OTHER THAN WHAT YOUR TEACHER HAS INSTRUCTED YOU TO DO WILL CONSTITUTE A REFERRAL. THE PRINTER WILL ONLY BE USED TO PRINT NECESSARY CLASSWORK. DOWNLOADING MOVIES ILLEGALLY MAY RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE CLASS.
