<p> 1Senate Resoution #32 2Page 1</p><p>1Presented to the Senate floor on May 31, 2012</p><p>2 3 4 5 6 7Authored by: KASLIWAL 8Co-authored by: Sterling, Quintana 9Introduced by: Anguiano 10 11Referred to: Ethnic and Cultural Affairs Commission 12 External Affairs Commission 13Recommendation: Ethnic and Cultural Affairs Commission Do Pass as Amended, 14 8-0-0, on June 154, 2012. 16 Yes: Brown, Gay, 17 Montelongo, 18Mulsi, Murrell, Reyna, 19Rombi, Salman. 20 21 External Affairs Commission Do Pass as Amended, 22 9-0-0, on June 5, 2012. 23 Yes: Bronstein, Coe, 24 Eeo, Gerhart, Kasliwal, 25 Loe, Matosich, Ong, 26 Sandstrom. 27 28 29An ASUCD Senate Resolution honoring UC Davis Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, Griselda 30Castro for 30 years of leadership and service to the students of the University of California, Davis (UC 31Davis). 32 33WHEREAS, Castro has served the University in several different capacities including: Assistant Vice 34Chancellor for Student Affairs, Interim Co-Director of the Cross Cultural Center, Education Oppurtunity 35Program Liaison in the Dean’s Office for Undergraduate Education in the College of Letters and Science, 36and Chicana/o Studies Student Affairs Coordinator; and, 37 38WHEREAS, Castro’s role as the Chicana/o Studies Student Affairs Coordinator allowed her to play a critical 39role in the development of this position and the Chicano-Latino Academic Theme Program in Student 40Housing, in addition to the creation of other residential theme programs; and, 41 3Senate Resoution #32 4Page 2</p><p>42WHEREAS, Castro, as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, has had leadership responsibility for 43the Student Life area, overseeing the development of the new Student Community Center, a beacon for 44underrepresented communities; and, 45 46WHEREAS, Castro has demonstrated an unending commitment to helping students and their families 47navigate the challenging world of higher education through her role as Assistant Vice Chancellor of 48Student Affairs; and, 49 50WHEREAS, Castro has served as the liaison to ASUCD, the Law Student Association and the Graduate 51Student Association; and, 52 53WHEREAS, Castro has helped administrators better understand cultural bias and the challenges that 54underrepresented students face at UC Davis through her role as Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chicana/o 55Studies Student Affairs Coordinator. 56 57THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED THAT, the Associated Students, University of California, Davis 58(ASUCD) appreciates Griselda Castro’s contribution to student, the campus, and the community during 59her active 30 years of service; and, 60 61THEREFORE LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, the ASUCD wishes Griselda Castro the best of luck 62with future endeavors; and, 63 64THEREFORE LET IT BE FINALLY RESOLVED THAT, this resolution be sent to Assistant Vice Chancellor, 65Gviselda Castro; Chancellor Linda P.B.
