<p>MUET Test Scores</p><p>There are no passing or failing scores on the MUET. Each institution of higher learning determines its respective minimum acceptable level of achievement for entry into its various courses.</p><p>The MUET is scored on an aggregated scale of 0-300. The scales are then banded into six levels of achievement.</p><p>Test Component Time Maximum Possible Score Weighting (%) Listening 1/2 hours 45 15 Speaking 1/2 hours 45 15 Reading Comprehension 2 hours 135 45 Writing 1 1/2 hours 75 25 Total 4 1/2 hours 300 100</p><p>The following is a description of the aggregated scale and the six bands. </p><p>Aggregated Communication Task Score Band User Ability Understanding Performance 260 – 300 6 Very good Very fluent, accurate High level of Functions user and appropriate, hardly understanding of the extremely well in any inaccuracies language the language 220 – 259 5 Good User Fluent, appropriate but Good level of Functions well in with occasional understanding of the the language inaccuracies language 180 – 219 4 Competent Generally fluent, Satisfactory level of Functions user appropriate but with understanding of the reasonably well in occasional language the language inaccuracies 140 – 179 3 Modest Fairly fluent, usually Able to understand Able to function user appropriate but with but with some but with some noticeable misinterpretation effort inaccuracies</p><p>100 – 139 2 Limited Lacks fluency and Limited Limited ability to user appropriacy, understanding of the function in the inaccurate use of the language language language resulting in frequent breakdowns in communication 0 – 99 1 Extremely Inappropriate and Poor understanding Hardly able to Limited inaccurate use of the of the language function in the language resulting in language very frequent breakdowns in communication</p>
