<p>Kansas State University International Agreement Guidelines </p><p>Signing international agreements</p><p>Example types of international agreements: Faculty or student exchanges, research agreements or Memorandum of Understanding</p><p>Faculty or Departments will:</p><p> Inform the Office of International Programs (OIP) of interest in signing an international agreement.</p><p> Submit to OIP a few paragraphs indicating what they want to achieve with the agreement in the next two to five years, and how the agreement will be beneficial to the department and the university. (What will be done? What outcomes are expected? What plans are in place?) </p><p> Inform the OIP if the initiating faculty member leaves the University or if the department will no longer be supporting the agreement.</p><p>The Office of International Programs (OIP) will:</p><p> Request support of the agreement from the Dean and Department Head of the initiating and participating Departments.</p><p> Work with the initiating department to inform other departments who may benefit from the agreement.</p><p> Review what other agreements the University currently has that are in the same country, same city, or for the same field of study, to ensure feasibility of the agreement.</p><p> Work with the University General Counsel to establish a template or determine the wording for agreements. General Counsel will advise on the technical wording of the document, not the feasibility of a certain agreement.</p><p> Work with the faculty or departments proposing the agreement, as well as the partner institution to determine and expiration or review date. </p><p> Obtain approval signatures from all involved departments (Initiating Department Dean & Department Head, OIP units, Graduate School, Admissions Office, University General Counsel, and University President).</p><p> Obtain the final approval signature from the Kansas Board of Regents for all reciprocal student exchange agreements.</p><p> Obtain the final approval signature from the President and/or Provost for all other types of international agreements.</p><p>Tracking agreements</p><p> The OIP will maintain an internal list of all international agreements, and regularly monitor the ongoing partnerships.</p><p>Termination of agreements</p><p>Kansas State University is required to follow the Kansas Board of Regents procedures for termination of agreements. The OIP will:</p><p> Ensure that the initiating faculty member or department is in support of the termination of the agreement.</p><p> Send a message of intent to terminate an agreement to all departments with a time frame (such as 30 days) seeking department feedback.</p><p> Notify the partner of our intent to terminate the agreement.</p><p> Ensure that Kansas Board of Regents procedures for termination of agreements are completed.</p>
