<p> Present Day Ministry of Jesus</p><p>Overview of Last Week</p><p>We talked about Jesus as our High Priest. Jesus walked this earth as a sinless human being, became sin for us, sacrificed Himself, paid our debt, rose from the dead, poured His blood on the mercy seat in heaven, and sat down at the right hand of the Father. As our High Priest He remitted sin, not just covered it. He is alive for evermore and has a never changing priesthood.</p><p>Today we want to talk about four other things that Jesus is for mankind.</p><p> He is our Mediator</p><p> Intercessor</p><p> Advocate</p><p> And our Surety. </p><p>Mediator</p><p>Ephesians 2:12 that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.</p><p>Vs. 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ</p><p>Jesus is a Mediator because of what He has done. In the Old Testament, the blood of bulls and goats and lambs only cleansed or sanctified the flesh.</p><p>Hebrews 9:13-15 read</p><p>In our New Covenant, we also have our conscience cleansed from dead works or sin. Hebrews 10:3, 16-18 read Read I Timothy 2:5 II Corinthians 5:18 Colossians 21:22 Jesus is the union between God and man. Philippians 2:8-11 Hebrews 2:14-18 read</p><p>Intercessor</p><p>Once you are born again, then Jesus becomes your intercessor. He mediates for the sinner, but intercedes for the believer. The ministry of each is very similar, but it depends on the status of the ministered to. You may ask, “Why do believers need an intercessor?”</p><p>Romans 12:2 and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.</p><p>Romans 8:33-34 No one can lay a charge against us when Christ is interceding for us. We are covered. Romans 8:35-39 He intercedes while we learn who we are in Christ Jesus. He covers our ignorance. But once we know, then we are responsible for what we know. So learn who you are and He will champion you all the way.</p><p>Advocate</p><p>Advocate is very much like intercessor. Webster’s dictionary defines advocate like this: “One who pleads the case of another in a court of law; one who defends, vindicates, or espouses a cause by argument; an upholder; a defender; one summoned to aid. “2 so, basically an advocate is a lawyer.</p><p>I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.</p><p>I John 2:1 “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.</p><p>Surety</p><p>The word surety means guarantee. Jesus is our guarantee. Of what? He is the guarantee of our new birth, our eternal redemption. Hebrews 7:22-24 Hebrews 13:8</p>
