To work in mixed ability shape and size. * To begin to talk about groups of 4 or 5 children. shape in everyday objects. *To talk about shape.</p><p>Activity: Work in a small group of 4 or 5 children. Show them the variety of boxes. Talk about their shapes, are they big? Small? Long? Explain that they must sort the correct objects and match it to the correct sized box. Now talk about the various objects from around the classroom and talk about their size. Demonstrate matching an object to the correct box making sure size language is expressed clearly. Who can match an object to the box? Is the object big? What box will it go in? Long? Will it go in the short or long box? KEY NOTES: Encourage the children to use size language when matching the object and box together by ensuring the language is being modelled by the teacher.
