<p> Upper Cumberland District Boy Scouts of America</p><p>Long Rifle Nominations 2014</p><p>Fellow Scouters:</p><p>The Long Rifle Award (District Award of Merit) is the highest honor that can be given to a volunteer Adult scouter in a district. Selection for this award is based on long term tenure (minimum of 3 years) in Scouting and service to a scout unit, district or council.</p><p>Please take a few minutes to consider people who would be most deserving. Keep the guidelines in mind which the committee must follow when making the choices. This award will not be given out unless all of the requirements are met:</p><p>1. Minimum of three years as a registered scouter, and currently registered. 2. Served or helped on District or Council level (such as District Training, Day Camp, District Camporees, Council level training, District Committee activities) 3. A nominee must have completed the necessary training required for his/her position. </p><p>The Long Rifle Committee in the Upper Cumberland District will collect all nominations, evaluate the contributions of each nominee, and will submit the appropriate recommendations to the Middle Tennessee Council for final approval. Awards are scheduled for presentation at the District Appreciation Banquet on March 18, 2014.</p><p>Please take a few minutes now to give us your ideas, and plan to have your nominations in by March 6, 2014, in order to give the Long Rifle Committee time to finalize selections. </p><p>We are pleased that Steve Leddy, Assistant Scoutmaster at Troop 196 and 2003 Long Rifle Recipient, has agreed to be the 2014 Chair of this Long Rifle Committee.
