Liquid crystal labels, indicators and graphics are typically screen printed on a sheet then cut to size. The company has designed, developed and introduced into production a custom high speed reel to reel liquid crystal label production machine called the “Dotter”. </p><p>Microencapsulated Liquid crystals by nature are slippery and typically are printed on a substrate with a covering film forming a sandwich, trapping the liquid crystals within the layers. The dotter is just that; liquid crystal is dispensed as a dot from a micro pump on to a base layer then dried in place without a covering film. This approach generates significant increases in production rates and scale efficiencies. The dotter is capable of producing 100,000 finished labels per day. </p><p>The dotter is flexible and allows for the dots to be offered in a wide range of sizes and temperature events.
