This lesson will need to be repeated many times as the student is non- speaking. The teacher will lay a few of the different items on the table (pencil, crayon, marker, scissors, glue, paper, tape, stapler, book, folder, notebook). The teacher will pick 5 items the first time, and then the next lesson, the teacher can focus on the other remaining 6 items. (After all of the items are introduced, the lesson will be repeated at another time with all of the items.) The teacher will pick up and say the name of the item. The student will be asked to repeat. The teacher will do this with all of the items on the table, picking up, saying, and having the student repeat. After this is done several times, the teacher will switch the activity to where the teacher is pointing to an item and saying a name with a question inflection, to see if the student can indicate that it is the item or not. The teacher can model a few times as well if needed. After that is done and repeated, the teacher will change the activity again. The next activity will be the teacher saying the word, and the student will have to select the correct item from the table. If possible, the student will be asked to say the name of the item on their own, without any prompting. The student’s English is still very minimal, so that last activity might not be possible. This lesson will be repeated many different times to ensure that the student is learning the new vocabulary as well as remembering and practicing the words.

Assessment: Assessment is on-going and informal. As this lesson is to be repeated many times, the teacher will be able to see if the student progresses in remembering the vocabulary from lesson to lesson.
