<p> Role Description : Home visit Assistant (Volunteer) CGL536</p><p>Location: STARS (Southend Treatment and Recovery Service), 21-40 County Chambers, 25-27 Weston Road, Southend-on-Sea Commitment: Flexible, but ideally at least two days (Mon-Fri) per week Contact: Sonia Mills, BRIC Co-ordinator [email protected] Telephone;- 01702 431889</p><p>About us</p><p>STARS are a drug and alcohol recovery service working with adults affected by recreational and dependant drug and/or alcohol use within the Southend area. All clients are provided with an opportunity to enter a treatment system which offers support and specialist knowledge regarding the affects of addiction and offer clear objectives as to how they can work towards a drug-free life and look to a brighter future, from engagement, through to treatment, prescribing to aftercare.</p><p>Purpose of the role:</p><p>The home visit assistant will primarily be supporting recovery workers engaging and visiting clients whom require home visits in accordance with our safeguarding policies, inputting findings into our in house system and when appropriate liaising with social services. The focus will be to work with our clients to establish a trusting relationship that enables the service user to reduce the risk of substance misuse and associated life style behavior. You will also be providing harm reduction and safe storage advice and be required to provide administrative support.</p><p>Volunteer role description</p><p> Provide full support to recovery workers while attending home visits</p><p> Completion of in house assessment tools, both Parenting home visit assessment and parental capacity assessment.</p><p> Liaise with Social Services and when appropriate multi-agencies involved with the service user’s broader care plan including Family Mosaic, health services, hospitals and GP’s. </p><p> Completing own administrative and data entry work to keep caseload up to date</p><p>Skills/qualities needed</p><p> Basic understanding of drug and alcohol issues </p><p> Good written and oral communication skills</p><p> Non-judgmental attitude and willingness to work with service users</p><p> IT literacy, including use of Microsoft packages and databases</p><p> Ability to maintain confidentiality and act within professional boundaries</p><p>Home visit Assistant (Volunteer) 14/03/2016 Page 1 of 2  Willingness to attend induction training and ongoing development training</p><p> Willingness to actively participate in regular supervision</p><p>What you can expect</p><p> Volunteer induction into CRI</p><p> A training course covering key skills needed for the role (mandatory)</p><p> Instruction, guidance and support to carry out your role effectively</p><p> Reasonable travel expenses reimbursed</p><p> A friendly environment and a rewarding experience</p><p>Time Commitment: For this particular post we ask that you are available for at least two days a week.</p><p>Recruitment procedure:</p><p> Completion of Application form,  Interview process  Receipt of 2 references,  Successful DBS check, </p><p>Home visit Assistant (Volunteer) 14/03/2016 Page 2 of 2</p>
