Renowned are programs such as the South Carolina 12 Blue Ribbon Schools, NASA Explorer Schools, Educator 13 Resource Center and Challenger Center; and 14 15 Whereas, NASA positively impacts our economy by working with 16 universities and companies in the State to accomplish many of the 17 agency goals. Institutions of higher education across South 18 Carolina have benefited immeasurably from the millions of dollars 19 they have received in NASA grants and contracts. NASA, in fact, 20 has provided to South Carolina funding for various programs over 21 the past five years totaling over thirty-eight million dollars; and 22 23 Whereas, NASA’s Vision for Space Exploration sets NASA on a 24 journey of discovery, seeking answers to questions asked for 25 generations. It embraces the excellence of the past and, at the same 26 time, sets a course of accomplishment for the future; and 27 28 Whereas, the General Assembly of South Carolina fully supports 29 and recognizes the positive social and economic impact of NASA 30 and the Vision for Space Exploration. Now, therefore, 31 32 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 33 concurring: 34 35 That the members of the General Assembly recognize and 36 acknowledge the outstanding contributions of the National 37 Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to our nation’s 38 proud tradition of leadership in space exploration and scientific 39 discovery and declare this state’s full support for NASA’s Vision 40 for Space Exploration program. 41 42</p><p>1 [3445] 2 1 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 2 National Aeronautics and Space Administration. 3 ----XX---- 4</p><p>1 [3445] 3</p>
