<p> Fall 2013 NUB 102 Assignment One: Syllabus Assignment</p><p>Goal: To help students organize their schedules and get a sense of the workload they face in the upcoming semester. This assignment may also help students decide whether they want to make any changes to the courses they are taking this semester.</p><p>Due Date: Class Three</p><p>The Assignment: 1) During the first week of class you should be given a syllabus for every class that you are taking. Be sure to organize them and put them in a safe place so that you can refer to them throughout the semester. </p><p>2) In your first NUB class you will be given a blank semester calendar and a two-sided grade calculation sheet. For each syllabus that you have you should: --Mark due dates for every major assignment and test on the semester calendar. If there is any doubt about what counts as a major assignment, it should probably be included on the chart. You might color code the chart if you’d like: --a different color for each class OR --a different color for each type of assignment (papers, group projects, tests, homework, etc.) --fill out the grade record sheet (major assignments and the percentage of your final grade). You can keep track of your grades for your classes on this sheet throughout the semester. --fill out professor office hours and contact information on side 2 of the grade record sheet --note the reason for taking each class: does it fulfill a general education requirement? Is it required for your major? --After the assignment has been graded and returned, decide on a place to post your calendar in your room so that you can refer to it throughout the semester and put the grading form in a safe place </p><p>3) This calendar will help you to get a sense of your semester as a whole, but you will also want to transfer the information to a more portable format. When you hand in your syllabus assignment you should also show your NUB instructor or TA the print or electronic calendar you’ll be using. Note: if you can’t bring it to class bring a screen shot or photo.</p><p>This chart will be available on Blackboard, so students can download it, type in the information, print it up, and hand it in to the professor.</p>
