<p>The Youth Employment Initiative is part-funded by the European Social Fund as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England.</p><p>Starfish Health and Wellbeing CIC - JOB DESCRIPTION </p><p>Tees Valley Pathways YEI Programme</p><p>JOB TITLE: YEI Support Worker</p><p>RESPONSIBLE TO: YEI Co-ordinator</p><p>HOURS: 37.5 hours per week </p><p>JOB PURPOSE:</p><p>As part of the Tees Valley Pathways Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) Programme, the jobholder will be responsible for supporting participants to progress. The YEI service supports young people (aged 16 to 29) who are struggling to achieve or progress into a positive destination. It will also support young people furthest away from the labour market by providing them with the skills they need to get into work and offer a flexible learning and skills fund. This will be achieved by providing wide-ranging support including:  Social Hub groups and activities  Community based training  Activities  One-to-one and group work </p><p>The Starfish Partnership provided mental health support to almost 3,000 young people (aged 16 to 29) in the Tees Valley last year. This YEI programme will provide additional support to 120 young people from July 2017 to July 2018. It will help young people who are struggling to achieve or progress in a positive destination or are far from the labour market. It will work with these young people to create individual plans that consider the action we need to take to help them tackle social isolation, build skills and move towards employment or enterprise. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:</p><p> Provide support to the YEI co-ordinator, volunteers and sessional staff.  Work with young people referred into the YEI to help them move forward by providing activities that link to their individual activity plans that will support their aspirations around enterprise and employment.  Help to deliver activities and training that help participants tackle social isolation and build life skills.  Encourage and enable service users to overcome the barriers they experience to social interaction and assist them in taking responsibility for their own social life. This will include supporting the delivery of coaching, mentoring and training delivered as one-to-one and group work sessions.  Use and promote social interaction as a way of helping people to maintain and improve their social, cultural, mental and physical health and wellbeing.  Promote and encourage a healthy mental, physical, social and culturally active lifestyle.  Work in partnership with a wide variety of professionals, statutory agencies, charities and voluntary organisations.  Support new referrals to the service.  Oversee the organisation and planning of activities for participants.  Help to introduce participants to relevant community resources, e.g. leisure and community centres, work opportunities, evening classes.  Promote independence and social integration at all times.  To work in a non-discriminatory, social inclusive manner. The YEI project recognises the need to know and understand each individual’s needs in order to fully support their finding/facilitating suitable activities with which to engage. Endeavour to break down any barriers or stigma that may inhibit an individual’s progress within the service.  Ensure that you continue to develop and expand your knowledge to maintain/increase your effectiveness in this role. Receive supervision and case management to maintain best practice.  Work with minimal supervision taking responsibility for managing own time and diary.  To ensure all policies, procedures and local and national guidelines are adhered to  To keep members’ data secure and safe in line with the Data Protection Act 2003.  Aware of and fulfil all requirements in respect of Information Governance (IG).  Take appropriate action to support the Quality Management Systems in order to enhance the quality of our service.  Support Environmental Management actions, to reduce our carbon footprint.  To ensure the activity environment is secure and safe, not putting members at undue risk and performing risk assessments where necessary.  To take responsibility for own health and safety, reporting all issues to the Social Hub lead and working within the Hub’s health and safety policies and the Health and Safety at Work Act.  To undertake other associate duties linked to the job and grade, to reflect the evolving nature of the service.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p><p>Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
