<p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p><p>Job Title: Attendance Support Officer and Lead First Aider</p><p>Grade: F</p><p>Hours: 37 hours per week, Term Time Only </p><p>Responsible to: Attendance and Admissions Officer Assistant Principal – Care and Guidance </p><p>Direct supervisory responsibility: None </p><p>Indirect supervisory responsibility: None</p><p>Important Functional Relationships: Teachers, pupils, support staff, parents</p><p>Main Purpose of the Job</p><p>To ensure that Penrice Academy discharges its duties concerning attendance and the welfare of children under the Education Acts and 1989 Children’s Act and outlined in the DfE guidance on school attendance and Cornwall Council guidance published on the council website and in Achieving High Attendance. </p><p>To improve attendance levels for all pupils with particular attention to vulnerable groups, for example those with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and children in care. </p><p>To improve Academy attendance through the effective working with students, families, pastoral support team and other agencies, analysing data to guide interventions and evaluating their impact.</p><p>To intervene across the year groups where specific barriers to attendance and learning exist to ensure that attendance stays high.</p><p>To ensure that all students educated in alternative provision are attending.</p><p>Duties and Responsibilities: </p><p>ATTENDANCE</p><p>1. Help all young people in our Academy to achieve high attendance rates, to give them the best chance of success.</p><p>2. Promote good practice within our Academy in relation to the management of attendance and help to provide high standards of care for our pupils.</p><p>3. To work with form tutors and Heads of Year to supply accurate attendance data. 4. To monitor and track data around attendance and attainment and to work with tutors, Heads of Year and other relevant staff to use this data to support identified groups of vulnerable young people to show an improvement in these areas.</p><p>5. Manage and prioritise an agreed caseload.</p><p>6. Maintain case records, write reports and manage confidential data.</p><p>7. Access answerphone messages, mark on SIMS and e-mail relevant members of staff.</p><p>8. Record on SIMS students reported as late on the Front Drive.</p><p>9. Mark on SIMS information placed in the signing-in and signing-out books.</p><p>10. Input detail from manual registers.</p><p>11. Liaise with reception to send student ambassadors to staff whose registers are missing or for when students are missing.</p><p>12. Text home through School Comms.</p><p>13. Co-ordinate investigation into students missing from lessons.</p><p>14. Produce student reports when the fire alarm is sounded.</p><p>15. Liaise with transport providers when buses are not in place at the end of the Academy Day.</p><p>16. Issue temporary bus passes.</p><p>17. Provide cover for the administration of the Academy procedures as regards Student lateness.</p><p>FIRST AID </p><p>1. To provide First Aid as needed, always working within their level of competence.</p><p>2. To arrange prompt and appropriate referral as required.</p><p>3. To record all treatment, however minor, on the relevant systems and to phone parents/carers where appropriate.</p><p>4. To work closely with the existing First Aid team.</p><p>5. To attend on-going training in relation to the role.</p><p>6. To work closely with the member of staff responsible for individual care plans. ANY OTHER DUTIES</p><p>1. Being very flexible in approach and adapting to suit the needs of the students.</p><p>2. Maintain high standards of confidentiality.</p><p>3. To remain aware and work within all relevant Academy working practices, policies and procedures.</p><p>4. To be aware of and work in accordance with the academy’s child protection policies and procedures.</p><p>5. To participate in training in order to keep up to date with possible sources of support and strategies for working with young people. </p><p>6. Undertake such other duties appropriate to the grade and character of the work as may be reasonably required.
