<p> NOLLEY PTA MEETING MINUTES</p><p>SEPTEMBER 12,2013</p><p>I. Nolley Elementary PTA called to order at 9:06am. II. Invocation III. Introductions IV. President Mary Kay Walker read PTA Mission V. Minutes of May 2013 minutes not read or approved. VI. Report of Officers a. Treasurer : Julie Speedy Beginning balance for August $5025.00 Ending balance $4075.00. Total $950 to include teacher supplies and grants. b. 3rd Vice President Mrs. Pappas: - Open house was a success! Attendance was excellent: staff worked hard at preparing the building and classrooms. - Enrollment stands at 443 students. 89 kindergarten 78 1st grade, 87 2nd grade, 86 3rd grade, 103 4th grade students. - We will have delayed start on Monday September 3. This is a 2 hour delay. - Third grade reading achievement test on Tuesday, October 8th No 4th grade achievement test in the fall. - Walking club begins 9/16 and concludes on 11/8 - Mrs. Prexta is coordinating the Bully Prevention program again this year. - Picture day is Monday 9/23. Retakes 11/30 - Parent/ Teacher conferences are 10/10 and 10/17 - 1st and 4th grade will take field trip to Ramseyer Farms this month. - Title 1 Reading Services Mrs. Slimak and Miss Kramer. Parent Meeting 9/19 @2:15 - No paper interims will go home this year. Grades will be updated using Progress Book. Report cards going home on Fridays. 1st report card 11/8 - Teacher’s are integrating the LEADER IN ME process. Thank you to PTA for purchasing activity guides for students. - Looking for Parent Volunteer during our “Panther Time” 2:20 to 3:00 pm</p><p> c. Teacher’s Representative Mrs. Prexta - Introduction to all Class rooms as School Counseler - Programs : Bully Prevention, Cyber Bully, gun safety, Mobile dentist in November. Volunteers needed for Mobile dentist. - Thank you to PTA for Staff 1st day breakfast. d. 1st Vice President, Kelly Johnson - not present e. 2nd Vice President, Tammy Johnston -Purchased and past out Start up Supplies for Teachers </p><p> f. Secretary, Amy Pablo - Passed around Thank you notes. VII. Reports from Committees a. Fundraising Chairs, Julie Speedy and Amy Pablo - Letter to opt out of Candy bar fundraiser sent out need to be back by 9/18. Carriers will be sent home with students on the 9/20. Volunteers needed Friday 9/20 @9:00 am to help with fundraiser. b. Parties Chair, Kim Sherman - Great response for class party helpers. Only 2 classes that need a 2nd request. c. Procedures, VACANT d. Volunteers, Kelly Johnson - Looking for Volunteers for the following: Panther Time 2:20-3:00 Daily, in class room volunteers for teachers, Bakery items for Staff meeting October 8th, 3:30 ( contact Amber Briggs), Assembling Reading Tent. e. Santa Shop Chair, Lisa Beans – not present f. Membership Chair, Nicole Galloway - Great membership start this year - Discussions: Face book account, Survey Monkey, membership benefits, video taping of meetings. - Donuts with Dad date set for 9/26 in am - Muffing with Mom date set for 10/16 in am g. Yearbook Chair, Jamie Hunt – not present - comment: may have yearbooks from last year to send back. h. Box Tops, Michelle Pederzolli – not present - comments: Last year total $2761.70, class room competition, box top links to website, list of healthy choices. - Home helper- Chrissy Chainey i. Giant Eagle/Acme Chair, Stacie Lindemen - not present - comments: reminders must sign up with Giant Eagle with Rewards card # and Nolley as School. o Acme Receipts ask friend and family members to save receipts. o Target has a Card that gives a % back to school must sign up with Red card and Nolley School. j. Teacher Appreciation, Stephanie Pribonic and Amber Briggs – not present - comments: need volunteers for Staff meeting 10/8 3:30 k. Food Drive Chairs, Kelli Johnson (not present) and Mary Kay Walker - food drive will start on 11/4, a different daily item will be assigned for each day. All items stay in our community and will be delivered to families the Monday before Thanksgiving. - Volunteers will be needed for sorting and delivery. l. Family Fun Chair, Dawn Wymer – not present - Comment: Sky Trampoline in Canton was suggested as a family fun night event. m. Art Show Chair, Michelle Bagwell - Dates have changed for the Reflection Art Show to early December, and on-line registration is required. - Summit County Art show in April - Nolley Art Festival will be 4/10 5:30. Volunteers are needed to help with this event. n. Hospitality, VACANT VII. Old Business - 2012-2013 Fun Fair brought in $8395.95 IX. New Business: - Mad Hatter 5K this weekend. Event supports Manchester Foundation. - Fun Fair Games Chair position is open. - On volunteer sheets requested to add – siblings are welcome or not welcome to volunteer for event. - Welcome packet for new families or new kindergarten families. - New communication suggestions: Constant contact, Sign- up genius, Facebook, twitter, automated calls sent weekly, weekly newsletter via e-mail with links to district and other items of interest.
