<p> Eva Lee Ngai, 魏貽華 NAPA Candidate for Vice President</p><p>As a middle child of a Chinese family, I have been a coalition builder my entire life. I am running for National Asian and Pacific American Association (NAPA) Vice President because I want to make positive contributions to NAPA.</p><p>I would like to promote NAPA's core mission to encourage the continued professional excellence of members; promote equal opportunity and affirmative action at FAA; and facilitate mentoring and networking opportunities to support the development of all FAA employees.</p><p>Specifically, I would like to use my marketing and outreach skills to promote NAPA. The Asian American and Pacific Islander event at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) last May was an event that I am very proud of because it gave a very high profile to many FAA employees. With the help of DOT staff, I played a key role in getting that event together in three weeks. </p><p>As a parent to two sons, I know many Asian parents and their children do not know what it means to be a public servant. I would like to change that mindset by sharing information about the many career opportunities at DOT and FAA and encourage and mentor young people to become federal employees. My personal story is that I was born in Hong Kong and came to the U.S. when I was 18 months old. Never could I have imagined growing up as the granddaughter of Florida farmer who grew bok choy, that I could work at FAA. Because I live in America, I have been given so many opportunities including graduating from Columbia University with a Master of Science in journalism and being a founding editor of USA TODAY Online. </p><p>In addition to being a lifetime member of FAPAC, I am a member of NAPA, Toastmasters, and APAEC secretary. As a member of the Asian American Journalists Association, I was Washington, DC, Chapter president.</p><p>Please vote for me as NAPA Vice President so I can help market and promote NAPA through events, publications, and networking.
