<p> XI STATE BIRTHDAY BRUNCH</p><p>JUNE 6, 2015</p><p>UPPER CRAVENS HALL</p><p>UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH</p><p>The Xi State Birthday Brunch began at 9:43a.m. (C.D.T.) on Saturday, June 6, 2015, in Upper Cravens Hall at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. Xi State President, Beverly Smith, Alpha Xi, presided over the meeting. Brandy McCracken, Alpha Iota welcomed everyone to the Birthday Brunch. President Smith thanked Dr. Beverly Hall, Alpha Rho, chair of the membership committee for the lovely Ceremony of Remembrance. She also thanked Alpha Iota chapter members for the lovely decorations. Crystal Nelson, Kappa gave the inspiration. </p><p>Lynn Caruthers, Phi, recognized 1st time attendees and held a drawing for a paid registration to the 2016 Xi State Convention. Janet Smith, Beta Xi, was the lucky winner.</p><p>Dr. Elaine Vaughan, Alpha Epsilon, announced the total from the Silent Auction and sale of Iris Note Paper was $4,719.50. She also presented an the award to the chapter that raised the most for Silent Auction to Beta Phi.</p><p>President Beverly Smith presented a reflection on her time as Xi State President. She thanked everyone for their support and encouragement during her biennium. She also presented Dr. Dorrie Powell, incoming Xi State President with a few items to help her on her journey. </p><p>Dr. Dorrie Powell reflected on her journey through Delta Kappa Gamma. She thanked everyone for their support, including friends, family and Delta Kappa Gamma members. Powell announced her theme for the upcoming biennium, “Xi State: Growing Possibilities.”</p><p>Xi State First Vice President, Dr. Elaine Alexander, Beta Epsilon with the help of members of the 2016 International Convention Steering Committee presented a program entitled “If They Could See Us Now.” Members were reminded of the founders and what they were able to do then and what they might see now in the Society as well as what they might see if they come to the 2016 International Convention. </p><p>Xi State Second Vice President, Lynn Caruthers, Phi, made final announcements.</p><p>President Beverly Smith thanked Lynn Caruthers, and the Steering Committee, Chris Carlson, Sarah Gunn, Chef Rick, Tim Garner and his staff, all of the incredible kitchen staff for the wonderful services they provide at the convention. She thanked Barbara Whiting, International Representative, for sharing her time on the mountain with us and she thanked all members for making the 2015 Xi State Convention a success. </p><p>The Birthday Brunch concluded with singing “The Delta Kappa Gamma Song.”</p>
