PI seeks to contribute to a situation where human rights defenders are recognized as legitimate actors for social change and to an environment where they can effectively exercise their rights to defend universally recognised human rights.</p><p>To this end PI is implementing a worldwide Protection Programme for Human Rights Defenders, and has established Protection Desks in partnership with local partners or Regional Offices in Colombia, Guatemala, DR Congo, Kenya, Indonesia and Thailand.</p><p>Protection International is an equal opportunities employer and fights against all kind of discriminations.</p><p>Further information on PI can be found on www.protectioninternational.org </p><p>PI is looking for an Accountant/Administration, who would work under the direct supervision of the Head of Administration, Finance and Fundraising Unit and of the Executive Director.</p><p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p><p>Job title: Accountant/Administration</p><p>Location: Brussels, Belgium</p><p>1 Key objectives and responsibilities:</p><p>Accountancy & Finances: - Accountancy (Software Popsy 3). - Control of the bank & payment transactions. - Monitoring financial obligations of the office, payment of invoices, contracts and insurance. - Verification of proofs of expenses (in support of the Cost control officer and Fundraisers) according to donor rules and Belgian legislation on accounting. - Maintain the current cash flow plan. - Keep the inventory list updated (state of the depreciable items). - Participation in the cloture of 2015 Balance and Audit. - Participation in the preparation of project audits (ex European Union contracts). - Monitoring of legal and financial obligations of PI as a nonprofit association (AISBL ), tax declaration, renewal status of statutes ( general assembly). - Staff administration under Belgian law and of expatriates under national laws (in cooperation with a social secretariat and field offices of PI)</p><p>Communication and reporting to Structures : - Ensure exports of the accountancy and collaborate with the Finances team (Fundraisers and Cost control officer) who provide financial reports to the Board of Directors of PI and for donor reports. - Communication with the head office team and with field offices (including team meetings).</p><p>- Logistics for field missions: - Monitoring the PI group insurance for Expatriates and missions of staff in head office or field offices, when going abroad. - Assist in some cases for reservation of flights, visa, other administrative matters of travels.</p><p>ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS</p><p>1) Education and experience:</p><p>. Bachelor Degree in relevant field (accountancy/administration)</p><p>2) Personal Qualities:</p><p>. Initiative</p><p>. Flexibility</p><p>DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS</p><p> Experience in general and in analytic accountancy , experience with an NGO is a plus.</p><p> Experience in administration.</p><p>2 Good knowledge of French and of English.</p><p>TERMS & CONDITIONS</p><p> Contract under Belgian legislation, part-time (19 hours/week) for 8 months.</p><p> Salary based on previous experience and donors’ requirements.
