<p> Teacher of DT: Product Design KS3/4 </p><p>The department of Design and Technology provides a broad experience across the range of Design and Technology activity including Resistant Materials, Electronics/Control, Food, and Graphics. Art & Design, and Health & Social Care are also included within the department as separate subjects. </p><p>A good standard of specialist, adequately resourced accommodation is available. One full time and two part-time 'technicians' and central technician support contracted-in provides a regular programme of maintenance and material preparation.</p><p>The department has its own ICT resource centre which consists of 30 PCs with 2 CNC milling machines a CNC lathe two 3D printers and a Laser cutter.</p><p>In Design and Technology: Product Design specifically, there are two large and attractive areas with separate provision for practical and theory work. The areas are well resourced and all DT rooms have digital projectors.</p><p>The members of the department work well as a team; however there is considerable emphasis on individual staff both working in and developing their own specialist area. Each member of the department has a 'base' with responsibility for the resources within it and an expectation that an attractive learning environment will be promoted.</p><p>The department runs a number of extra curricula activities including the ‘KMF Young Engineer’ and ‘Greenpower F24’ racing. We have been particularly successful in the latter, winning a number of trophies at regional competitions and qualifying for the International Finals at Rockingham for the past two years, where we finished as top Staffordshire school.</p><p>Our 2016 Exam results at both GCSE and A level were very pleasing and we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well qualified teacher who is able to deliver Design Technology: Product Design both at KS3 and KS4. </p><p>We have had a number of Students go on to study Design & Technology at University when they have left us and then pursue successful careers in Design / Engineering. Last year one of our former students graduated with a 1st class honours degree in Automotive Design from Coventry University and has just started work for a major car manufacturer.</p><p>The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.</p><p>This position is subject to a criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.</p><p>The successful candidate will be expected to sign the Catholic Education Service Contract.</p><p>Completed application forms should be returned to Mrs T Madden, Headteacher, St. John Fisher Catholic College, Ashfields New Road, Newcastle, Staffs, ST5 2SJ by 12noon on 1st February 2017.
