<p> Hurricane in a Bottle</p><p>Materials:  2 Plastic soda bottles (1 or 2 Liter Size)  Glitter, paper, plastic pieces, food coloring  Bottle connectors  Stopwatch or a watch with a secondhand to record time</p><p>Steps: 1. Fill soda bottle to the top with water 2. Use bottle connector to connect top of the other bottle to the top of the bottle filled with water. Make sure is sealed tight 3. Fill bottle with glitter, food coloring and other assorted items for better clarity of hurricane 4. Turn the bottle filled with water upside down and twirl in clockwise or counterclockwise and watch the vortex form! 5. Time how long it takes for the water to flow from one bottle to the next</p><p>Take Away Message: This is how hurricanes begin, with the swirling effect and a vortex is formed, which is called the “eye” of the hurricane. </p>
