<p> Masters Degree in Reading</p><p>Ohio University offers an online Master’s Degree in Reading. The required courses (and their associated semester credit hours) include:</p><p>Core Courses Reading Courses EDRE 5010 Introduction to Research EDTE 5200 Foundations of Reading (3) Methods (4) EDTE 5210 Foundations of Language (3) EDCS 5040 Sociology, Politics, and Change EDTE 5220 Diagnosis: Reading/Language Arts* (3) in Education (4) EDTE 5230 Reading Laboratory (3) EDTE 5600 Advanced Studies of Children EDTE 5240 Children’s Literature (3) and Adolescents (3) EDTE 5260 Secondary Reading Instruction (3) EDTE 6940 Masters Research Project (3) EDTE 5270 Phonics and the Structure of Language** (3) EDSP 5700 Nature & Needs of Children EDTE 6230 Coaching Classroom Teachers in and Adolescents with Exceptionalities** (3) Reading/Literacy (4)</p><p>*EDTE 5220 is prerequisite for EDTE 5230</p><p>**EDSP 5700 and EDTE 5270 are required unless comparable courses were taken as an undergraduate. Neither course is currently offered online. If you need to complete one or both of these courses, you may complete them at any time, but please plan accordingly and within credit-hour limits. If you took either course as an undergraduate, they do not need to be retaken.
