Textbook Authors: Aufmann, Baker, Lockwood. </p><p>Course Coverage: We will cover Chapters 2-12</p><p>Prerequisite: Math 80A or equivalent with a grade of ‘C’ or higher.</p><p>Materials: Scientific calculator, recommended a TI- 83 Plus, graph paper, pencils, pens, ruler, folders and textbook.</p><p>You are required to access course information, such as homework assignments, etc., on-line at www.cerritos.edu/fseres</p><p>Homework: It will be assigned from the text, online, or given as handouts. Read the textbook discussion on each topic, ideally before it is covered in class. Homework should be submitted on standard size paper, neatly written, stapled, with your full name on the first page. Late homework will not be accepted. Homework assignment will be worth 3-20 points. Answers alone are not sufficient, must show work step by step, neatly. Lowest homework will be dropped when determining your final grade in the course.</p><p>Group Work: It will be assigned from text, online, or given as handout. It will be worth 2-10 points. </p><p>Quizzes: Group, take-home, online or individual quizzes. Each quiz will be worth 3-20 points (10- 30min). Lowest quiz will be dropped when determining your final grade in the course. NO MAKE UP QUIZZESS WILL BE GIVEN. </p><p>Exams: We will have 3 exams each worth 100 points and a comprehensive final worth 150 points. NO MAKEUP EXAMS WILL BE GIVEN, unless emergency occurs. You must notify me 12hrs in advance. A doctors note will be required if the emergency is illness. </p><p>Extra Credit: There might be 1-2 extra credits worth 5-20 pts.</p><p>Participation: 3% of your final grade. </p><p>Grading: (90% -100%]=A, (80%- 89%]=B, (70%-79%] = C, (60%-69%]=D and 59% & below is F. Academic Dishonesty: If you are caught participating in an act of academic dishonesty, e.g. cheating, you will receive zero on the paper you were working on i.e. Quiz, Test. Second time a disciplinary F in the course and your name will be reported to the appropriate academic dean. </p><p>Students’ Responsibility:  If you stop attending this class, it is your responsibility to go to the admissions office and withdraw from the course. Failure to do so may result is a grade of F in this course.  This course requires your full attention during class time. It is your job to learn the material. Part of this job will require you the following: to participate in class, seek the appropriate help as soon as you encounter difficulties, ask relevant questions when you do not understand the material, and submit assignments on time.  Should you miss a class it is your responsibility to contact another student (not the instructor) to find out what you missed.</p><p>Behavior in class:  All electronic devices such as cell phones, pagers, etc must be in non-audio mode, silent, while you are in the classroom. Your conduct in this classroom is expected to be respectful of other students and the instructor at all times. Disruptive behavior will result in point’s deduction 10-50points from your overall grade or removal from class. </p><p>Attendance:  It is extremely important to attend class. After 4 absences you may be dropped from the class.</p><p>How to get HELP in this course:  It is a good idea to form study groups outside of class.  Go to the Learning Center, see link on my webpage.  Exchange e-mail and or phone # with at least two of your classmates. IMPORTANT DATES:</p><p>Final Exam ------Dec 11 time 6:00-8:00pm, same room PS-11 Note: Expect to spend 15-20 hours per week in homework and study for this class.</p><p>*Instructor reserves the right to change content of syllabus during semester.</p>
